Six Nations 2006

Jesus wept, Robinson picks Noon and Tindell again.

Its going to be a long tedious afternoon on saturday. How about a sweepstake on the number of phases england can put together without ever getting a sniff of the try line, I'll go for 27.

With the brilliant rugby being oplayed in the last 2 rounds of the Heineken Cup, and with the winning teams in the main playing good running rugby, that was a very disapointing selection.

I thought Eddie O' Sullivan was conservative but Robindson is worse and thats no mean achievement.

Be interesting to see if Munster and Leinster's form can be reproduced for Ireland, should have a good year if it can, but with EOS running the show...

You can really start to understand why the B & E Lions never had a hope with SCW, AR and EOS picking the team and tactics.

Just seen that England v Wales clashes with Leyton FC v AFC Dons..

Hmmm what should one do..?? Stay at home & watch England V Wales on telly or go to Leyton FC to watch the Dons play..??

The French may be, well, French, but they play some fantastic rugby. I am pissed off that Robinson can't get past the Noon-Tindall combo, but there we go. Should be a corker to start tomorrow, very excited by it all.

Muppets all. Absolute muppets. I've never been more cross than after the first Lions test (the second was fair enough as they were awesome).

Tindall was picked by the Queen dont you know. He cannot be dropped by royal decree as it would simply ruin Zara's day out at the rugger with the chaps!

And boy oh boy are we Welsh glad of his immunity from being dropped! :D

Off again in another week. Can't wait. This will be the first year in ages I won't get to a match :( but will watch every minute on TV.
I think it should be cancelled so that Wales remain champions forever.

If they had left Argentina in or kicked Italy out ye would be!

I hope a team lights up the competition like Wales did last year though. I'd love if it was Ireland but it's more likely to be somebody else.

I suspect it's going to be France, they've got some absolutely awesome backs and a cracking pack.

You should be equally glad about Moody making a rapid return from banning, he's worth at least 9 points to the opposition and yellow card every game.

Please, any other nation as long as it's not the Irish, Scottish or Welsh. In fact, I dislike all "home Nations" all equally.

France are probably too good for everybody and have home advantage in the crucial England and Ireland games.

England have a tough pack but will only get parity with France in the tight and get hammered out wide by them and Ireland.

Ireland are handicapped by EOS for sure but still have the best back line in the competition and Donnacha O Callaghan who was the lions second row doesn't even make the team up front. Munster Pack plus Simon Easterby and Mal O Kelly and with BOD and D'arcy in top form - difficult to beat. No weak points.

Wales are crippled with injuries and really don't have the depth to sustain them. Look at their teams in the HK - battered by the big sides.

Scotland will be a suprise, their teams have been a cut above the welsh in the CL this year.

Italy will hold the ball through 29 phases as usual and bore the shit out of everybody but keep the scores under 50.

I think this is too rosy a view. The Munster pack is very good at a club level, but is no more than pretty good at international level. The pack won't disgrace itself but that's about all that can be said. As for the back line, unfortunately the two most important back positions are by some distance Ireland's weakest. It doesn't matter how good your centres, wings or full back are if the scrum half and out half aren't up to it.

Normal service has been resumed :D

Chuffed that England won but I can't help thinking there are better midfield options out there. Personally I'd like us to start next week against Italy with Erinle and Abbott. Very pleased to see Stevens get MOM I thought he had a blinder and overshadowed Sheridan.

Shame Wales had so many injuries it would have been very close if they were full strength.

As for Italy, robbed by the ref I reckon.

Right back off out again to sink a few more pints :D

That ref was definitely a homer -at least 3 English tries should have been disallowed.
At one stage i thought the ref was wearing an england shirt when he blocked Stephen Jones making a tackle on Dallydayglo.
England would still have one though-and ive lost 300 hundred quid. :(

I would never have put money on wales to win. After the autumn trials I knew england were going to walk all over wales. I predicted at least 20 points and I was right.

Wales played great rugby last year-but lets face it there was an element of catching people off guard. Judging by yesterdays performance I dont think they've expanded much on the style of play last year. Ruddock is going to have to pull his finger out otherwise I can see wales losing against every team bar scotland and italy.
