Yeah, and just when it seemed that he finally stood a chance of emerging from the endless depression he'd slid into after the first series... :(

Sure, but somehow he's always been a loveable and incredibly well-written twat... :D Even in his ruthless moments there's a sincerity there that just convinces you he means no harm.

I've had my ups and downs with the show, but when it's good it is absolutely brilliant! This fifth season has a lot less humour and is much more driven by the drama of the main characters, which has become its strength.

MightyAphrodite -- please don't reveal major plot lines without some kind of spoiler warning. Unfortunately I glanced in here a few days ago, and was still about four episodes behind. But I should have also learned by now not to look at any related sites if I want to keep surprises at bay, silly of me to have clicked the thread without thinking.

Anyway, I've caught up with watching the show and feel quite moved by Nate's death and the events leading up to it. I find his character very real, he doesn't really know what he wants but tries very hard to please people, much like his mother. Brenda and him never did fit together well but he tried to do the best thing and went along with what she wanted, exactly as he did before with Lisa. While it's tragic he's not finding the right relationships and keeps being unfaithful, it's certainly not unrealistic. With Brenda so pregnant you might think he'd hang on for a while, but then I guess it's hard to do that once you've decided a relationship is over. Getting involved with the Quakers made sense with Nate -- trying to find a calm simplicity. And Maggie is quite chilled and simple in her interests, much like him.

Only a handful of episodes left, guess there is a real danger they're going to kill off more. Very curious how it's all going to end....

Ok sorry about that :o....theres only 2 episodes left (3 for you probably) , my lips are sealed :)

sorry again :o

no spoilers tonight alef....its just been on....next to last episode and im still weeping :o...

thats really a quality show innit....i hate to see it go....but theyre leaving with dignity intact and while theyre ahead....thats pretty important i reckon.

I just saw the latest episode, only the final show left next week. The last few episodes have been amazing, really moving. I found Nate's funeral from a week ago just incredible, made tears roll down my face -- which no television show or film has ever done to me before! Guess because I've got to know the characters so well over the past four years, and the acting is so damn good, I'm that caught up in it.

Who has your favourite character been? Most interesting relationship? I find Ruth the most interesting, and the relationship between Keith and Dave most real.

Worst character has been Rico, though series 5 has given him some good scenes, they did treat him as quite stupid a lot of the time. All of Ruth's relationships before George were just done for laughs, no depth.

But then I tend to nitpick too much, best to just enjoy the richness of the storylines. Definitely sad that the show is ending, but better to end on a high note than drag out for years. Do you think the final frame will be a white screen with the words "Six Feet Under 2001-2005"?

i cant believe no ones posted on the final show....maybe no ones saw it

it was SO sad....alan ball tied everything up nicely though.....but my god it was one of the saddest things ive ever watched.....
