"Six Best Video Editing Applications"

Regardless of OS and software used that is the kind of dedication and effort required to produce high quality result. But yes if it is instant results you are after Windows is the way to go
I think you'll find that that most people, when given the choice, would rather just get on with the job rather than dedicate their precious time struggling with dodgy documentation, non-existent help files, baffling hardware errors and geeky forums.

All that may rock your boat, but most people really have better things to do.

Erm. Right, I need to start editing a movie I'm starting to shoot tonight. I know basic stuff but havent used a video editor before so want something thats easy to learn and simple to cut and edit AVI's with MP3 and WAV soundtrack/FX - what do you recommend?

Sorry but this thread has just left me more confused than anything :)

Depends how good you want it... I make snowboarding movies but it's just stuff shot with consumer-grade camcorders and headcams; if that's about right for you then:

Windows Movie Maker is just about workable. It's simple as fuck to use, but you'll soon reach its limits.

Adobe Premier Pro is fucking complicated at first, and many of the advanced features are really fiddly. This might well be a feature of all pro-level editing kit, though. It does have a metric shitload of options. You'll need to download a cracked copy or spend hundreds of quid on it.

Sony Vegas Movie Studio is forty quid, does most of the things Premier does, and does them easier. For me, it's the best fit.

That's the stuff I've used. Someone will probably be along shortly to tell me it's all a load easier on a Mac, and it's all bundled with it, and that Macs are much prettier and give you a bigger dick. They're probably right.

Yeah well I havent got a mac, and am only just getting into this, so I'll get Vegas Movie studio - I've used WMM before briefly and found it too simple, I want to do some basic effects in this so Vegas sounds great, cheers for the help :)

actually final cut express is my fav video editor

i find final cut pro a bit too complicated and had problems with video importing on premier

however the video exporting options were a bit shitty unless you love quicktime so i just exported as dv then used a converter to take it to h264

the results

mind you i'm shit at editing anyhow
