SINCE when has atonal wittering been a musical form?

i think partly it's because neither of them have been anywhere for as long as 30 years, though i could be wrong about Quoad
Ah, yes, I forgot that I'm old and wise :D

maybe they sexed it up with a Squeeze soundtrack, and you've just buried it REALLY REALLY deep :)
God help me (and you lot. there would be collateral damage) if it ever resurfaces.

yes.

how typical of Pie face to introduce some awful serial killer element to an otherwise harmless song.

Tbf, she might have been thinking of the ... erm ... pearl variety

It's 'toker' innit?

Thats what I always thought.
It still doesn't make any sense.

How did this thread slip from the (almost) sublime to the ridiculous?

What doesn't make sense?

"I'm a joker
I'm a smoker
I'm a midnight toker"

Oh, :o @self.

It's a drug reference, isn't it?
I'd never realised. :o

(To be fair I'd never seen the lyrics written down :D )

 at Mrs Q and Crispy for never having heard that tune. Were you two guys locked in the same cellar for the last 30 years?
Assorted squats and student digs mostly :D

I have TWO cellars*

Crispy may borrow one if he wishes :)

*until Friday :(

*wishing I still had the email newsletter (rocking vicar I think), that decontructed the song, taking the piss out of the jump forward in time and that his girfriend/wife is apparently about to give birth in an incubator.

They did a great one about Down In The Tube Station at Midnight too
ruined both those songs for me:mad: :D

Struck me as someone desperate for fluent form, but just plain and simple without the skills :D As evidenced by the following half-arsed efforts at frankly alarmingly desperate 'half-rhymes'.

rations
passions

telly
smelly

kissin'
missin

Monday
Sunday

hours
flowers

fifty
nifty

incubator
later

mother
another

If you are serious, which I doubt, you are Anna Key and I claim my £200. I simply fail to understand how a 28 year-old song manages to arouse such imo pointless ire.

Incidentally, none of the above are "half rhymes" :p
