Sin City on BBC2 at 10pm

I like it, it's a film that looks great. Yes, it could be considered massively misogynistic, but I'd go with misanthropic, personally.
I like to watch it when real films would be too challenging, it's like a cartoon but less bright- ideal for those Sunday-morning brainless hours.
It's no masterpiece, but it's good to watch, and (it pains me to say this) Bruce Willis is actually rather good in it. As is Mickey Rourke.

This being the 2nd time I watched it, it certainly didn't quite grab me like it did the first time I saw it either. In particular, the middle story dragged a bit and christ, did I feel like giving Clive Owen a good slap everytime he started waffling on about his warrior woman, his valakyrie, etc etc ad nausem.

Still think it's a great film with the Marv and Harrigan stories bookending the weak middle story (although, Benico Del Toro is bloody brillant as Jackie Boy). Visually the whole film is a joy to watch, quite an achievment by Rodigruez and Miller. Style over content perhaps, but still hell of a lot of fun in my book.

I await the sequel (possibly with Johnny Depp involved) with eager anticipation.

I fancy them both in it :(

It manipulated the damaged-hero nodes in my lovebox :o :(

Ditto. :(

I agree it was visually intriguing. That's what made me keep it on in the background.

This, except that it doesn't pain me to say that Bruce was good. I like a bit of Bruce

The thing is, the film's so patently charicatured that the misogynist elements seem quite ridiculous when compared to the more understated (and therefore more sinister) prejudice displayed in other more "serious" films.

It's still a very "nasty" film though, and its relentless "nastiness" just gets tiresome towards the end.

Yup. Looks fantastic though. I'd quite like to see a re-edit, with all the plot line removed, and just set the violence to a heavy metal soundtrack.

(Ditto 300)

I'l give you that for Sin City, but with 300 you'd have to leave some dialouge in just for the cheesy win
