Film noir as a genre is often fantastic, and takes interesting approaches to morality, plays with good guy / bad guy notions etc.

if you think Sin City fulfils noir criteria, you're crazy.

Two men with chequered backgrounds sacrifice their lives for two women. One to revenge her death and the other to save her life.

Sounds like a morality play involving anti heroes to me.

As for the 'showing me up', I can believe you saw it that way. Trust me, it wasn't. And you are a fucking misogynist.

I'm sure there are many more reprehensible movies which, in a two-sentence pitch, sound thoroughly worthwhile. And?

I tried to stop earlier, I really did, but then he'll make some shitheadedly patronising comment like he's the oracle of all popular entertainment and I'll feel like having a go at bringing him down a peg or two or highlighting his hypocrisy or summink like that. I dunno....I think, to be honest, we're locked in a dance to the death like two spies grappling with eachother as they fall out of the aeroplane.

You're both as bad as each other.

We're the original odd couple. I'm alright, he's a twat. He's tidy, I'm messy. He likes the movies, and I like TV, he takes things serious and I take 'em light, I talk a lot of sense, he talks nothing but shite...etc etc etc BUT WHEN WE GET TOGETHER WE HAVE NOTHING BUT FUN!

More worthwhile or not I've proven that it fills your own critera for film noir.
The fact it's popcorn comic book film noir (and thats all its meant to be) not withstanding.

And... Therefore I win the internets and you sir are a fool :p
