Simplest *FREE* software to allow me to make COPIES of my DVD-Rs/DVDs

To copy a DVD you made yourself, coming back to your earlier post will always require the following:

1. Copy dvd to PC
2. Copy from PC to new DVD

What people are trying to say is that anything you do will do the above, regardless of the App, nero did this, it just didn't tell you.

So, since you are looking for a free way to do this you will have to do a little work yourself.

1, Insert disc you want to copy
2. start imgburn and select 'Make image from disc'
3. when done insert blank disc
4. choose 'write image file to disc'

That will do what you want.

Got my mate who is a computer programmer to pop round last night.

turns out i had been doing everything correctly, just my burner is faulty.

(once the original dvd has been encoded it can't 'see' the copy stored on my PC to write it to disc.

no option but to buy an external DVD burner apparently.

oh well.

You could get a new internal one (cheaper), but then I guess the problem is with fitting it.

You could put a "Wanted - external DVD writer" on the recycle forum, you never know.
