They are definitely more vocal than other cats, they indeed almost have a sort of mini vocabulary. I just dunno if I'd inflict one on a flatmate :D

When I was a kid the neighbours used to complain about them just miaowing outside our back door in the morning...

Oh, and if you shave a siamese, its fur will grow back darker (this is why, when spaying a siamese, the vet will go in through the underneath of the cat, rather than its side).

Through careful and regular use of clippers, it may be possible to get monogrammed siamese.

that's not true ime. it grows back normal.

Selectively-bred Siamese:

My pal's mum has had several of these and to a cat they have been mental. One was wound up by my pal and his mates though  (They were young)

Demi was solid and you knew when he sat on your lap :D The current one is apparently just as stoopid, I've not met him though.

I like siamese cats, not fussed if they're modern or not. We have a normal tortoiseshell though. She was free.

OU's cat is gorgeous. I'm glad I wondered where he's been and checked his posts and found this thread.

Voted fancy because when I was looking for a Siamese we could only find breeders near us who bred the 'typy' ones.

She is the funniest, most intelligent cat I have ever owned.
But I love my moggies too :)

They are so intelligent and funny aren't they? I think you have to own them to appreciate them - just look at the answers to this poll. :hmm:

Really? I've been lied to by a vet :(

Boo :(

No you haven't. The colour the body fur grows back after shaving depends on skin temperature - in hot weather/central heating the bald patch of skin will stay warm and the fur will grow back pale, in cold weather the bald patch will be much cooler than the surrounding insulated furry areas and will grow in darker. It isn't permanent though.

ETA: Here's a reputable link (with photo) showing the opposite - a partially shaved Siamese living in a cold climate where the shaved area was kept warm so it grew back paler than the surrounding fur, and an explanation as to why it happens:

That's not a bad looking cat, and I don't like cats... what is it?

Got a really nice shaped nose and huge ears :)

My faith in vets has been redeemed!

Thank you :)
