Shyster card/bus replacement question

So are there barriers at Clapton now then? Can you swipe in and out with an oyster card between the two stations?

If I go from Walthamstow to Highams Park, there won't be any actual barriers though will there?

Well, it doesn't matter, if I get there and there are, that means it's integrated so it doesn't matter if I swipe in as I will be able to swipe out and won't lose 7 quid maximum fare 'penalty' (penalty charged by the imbeciles who run the system on passengers who are evil enough to be happening to try and use their system), just the 2 quid or whatever.

Which is how it should have been, like 4 years ago.

There aren't barriers, but there are the swiper things on the platform. Swipe on one of those and you won't get charged the maximum travelcard 1-6 fare (which wouldn't be that different to what you're actually going to pay anyway). Or, at least, there should be swipers there, since they are on the other stations on that line now - TBF, I haven't used Higham's Park since that line was Oysterised.

Well if there are swipers maybe I will do what marty suggested before and just go from liverpool street.

It's just that before, that wasn't possible.

It's funny how people have this idea of Chingford as being in the middle of nowhere. It's only about 10 minutes from Hackney on the overground!

Yeah if you're a south Londonny person I guess there isn't much reason to have done. But it's just a couple of stops out from walthamstow... so not really 'out of london' per se...

Blimey, when you look at it on the map, it properly is right out on the edge of London. yet when you go there from hackney, which is 'inner city', it's really really quick...

I used to work there, and it's one of the best stops for Epping Forest. I also heard a rumour that some people live there.

Dunno. This is a very good question. However, my mate is having his barbecue there, so it would be unwise for me to go to Brixton just to be trendy.

As it turned out, the scanners/readers are not sodding installed yet, so I had to swipe in at Liverpool St (cos of taking you lot's advice ) and then couldn't swipe out at Highams Park, meaning I got stung for max fare.



Should have gone via Walthamstow on the bus replacement and just gone for 'free'.
