Shutter Island

Just watched it - I thought it was good without being stellar. Agree that it seemed like a long, slow reveal was the intent so it didn't matter about any 'twist'. Plenty of good cinematic moments too, right from the start with the ferry coming out of the fog. One thing which is a spoiler though:
The guy who plays his partner/Dr Sheehan works as the partner but seemed the wrong type to be a psychiatrist. Obv no such thing as an absolute type, but was much more like someone who'd be an army vet/cop sidekick than a headshrinker

Really enjoined this one. I could see the 'twist' before the film even started. But I really don't care, the editing and atmosphere Scorsese creates are top notch.

L enjoyed this - i thought it was actually a double twist, that he was not mental, but actually was a big conspiracy cos they knew he was onto them.

Last line, and the fact he went off to the Lighthouse after all made me belive this.

No, I think you've interpreted that wrong.

I think he accepted he killed his wife, but at the end (when sitting on the step), he pretended he was delusional again. As he said, he'd rather die as a hero than live as a murderer (or something similar to that). So he basically wanted to die.

Fair do's, but the whole conspiracy he was trying to uncover included them doing labotomies in the Lighthouse, and thats what happened to him, we see.

Scorsese has actually said the film is open to interpretation.

I watch again yesterday afternoon after a 2bd watch it like wow parts are so blatant.

mk12 Spoiler - Yes as he never going to get out he best be dead.

Ok, apologies, I just couldn't make head or tail of it. He just sent me a sweary private message and he sure knows how to spell "fuck"

I thought the movie was quite good. I especially enjoyed the scene in the cave because it was real. Every word that came out of that woman's mouth was true and we should all be very frightened.

Saw this at the weekend and thought it was turd.

I understood the ending to be as mk12 says in the post above. Not that this makes the film in any way better or worth watching.

We went to see this on Friday, I enjoyed it, but saw the twist coming a mile off. One thing that did annoy me was that the concentration camp was meant to be Dachau, yet the showed the 'Arbeit mach frei' sign, which as any fule know is Auchwitz.

I'd gen up a little on your holocaust history if i were you Arbeit Mach Frei was on pretty much all 'enforced labour camps'

Did anyone else like the 'B'-movie style green screen scenes. :D

They tried to evoke the look of backprojections and matte paintings and that's how I wished they'd done it, instead of going CGI (which uses green screen and doesn't have anything to do with B-movies)

I wasn't talking about the CGI, nevermind, you obviously loathe the thing anyway.
