Should vodka freeze?

Very very very overrated and overpriced. Fucking shit stuff, buy tescos or sainsburys own and enjoy a nice surprise if you are willing to drink crap like absolut and buy into their marketing (which is what you are paying for, it's certainly not the vodka)
i was trying to say it's bloody muck politely

OP - do you have a housemate who might have been watering the stuff down?

If you know the temperature of your freezer, you can see whether it's been watered :)

Finlandia and Zubrowka are great, I also like stolli.

Is it time to revive the britta filter vodka thread? I brittaed some cheap shit vodka about five times and it became AMAZING vodka.

I read that after five filterings top vodka tasters during a blind test could not tell the difference between grey goose (not brittaed) and the shittest vodka form the corner shop.

they did this on mythbusters and the consensus was that filtering shit vodka does make it quite a lot better, but it'll not be as good as a top end vodka.

prob worth doing though innit.

i dont really like vodka though..reminds me of turps or something.

You mean using a Britta water filter to purify vodka? Does that actually work though?

Worked for me. I only tried it the first time because I was making skittles vodka and didn't like the look of the floating scum. When I tried it I couldn't believe how smooth it was so I filtered it again and again and it just got better.

I then tried it with just a plain out crap vodka and it really really did improve it.
Quite a lot of what makes vodka so nice is the water purity so I am told , so I guess it would make sense.

However - It mucks up your britta filters pretty quickly and might actually prove more pricey than just buying better vodka.
I have just read there might be another slower but more effective way of improving vodka with food grade charcoal.

I've had my vodka freeze before, but it was a pointer to a fucked up freezer rather than shite vodka. The freezer was stuck on 100% of the time and went well below -25.

Hmm, that is interesting, thank you!
I thought one of the problems with cheap vodka was that the quality of the alcohol is very low and can be bad for you, this method wouldn't improve that. (Do you know if this is true, by the way?)
