Should It Stay Or Should It Go?

It's the stairs that are the main problem :(

But then it still has musical value. I was more talking about the stuff that, when you listen to it, just makes you stand there with a blank look on your face thinking 'where did this come from, and why is it still here?'

i know, but i think all that stuff has already been purged. It's the stuff like Happy Flowers - stuff that I'll never get round to playing but still pretend I might - that's the problem

How about getting rid of everything that is easily replaced, (having copied it first) that way you are just left with a collection of rare and obscure stuff.

Failing that hire a stable and you can store them in there (too cruel?) :D

its a no win situation.

You keep em there gonna be lying there doing nothing

You sell em and you'll get reminded of em one day and want to dig em out, only to find that you sold them :(

I say keep em, Cant you get a lockup or something?

they are but you also don't live on your own - and its unfair to take over a flat/house whatever with things that you are hoarding for no reason other than you feel safer with them around cos they might say something good abot you :p

get rid

Don't sell them...

Get a bigger house. Get a new g/f. Make the kids sleep in the shed and use their rooms etc, etc... but don't sell them. :(

:D

**no wonder I'm single**

where's this "saying something good about me" nonsense come from?

and anyway, she knew the risks when she set out. I have to live in a house with fucking POTTER BOOKS in it. So it's only fair.

whether I think they tell some sort of story about my musical journey, or even about me.

from there :)

you asked for my opinion so I'm giving you it :D although I grant you she knew the risks :D

there's no mention of it telling a story that made me looked good. you added that yourself. :p

so you want to keep things cos the story they tell suggests your a cunt? :D

I meant in a nice way, not a sarcy way :) the journey you've been on etc :)

i wasn't ascribing any value judgements at all, wasn't really what i meant.

dumbass :p

I think its hereditary, when Dubs uncle popped his cloggs a couple of years ago he left over 50,000 pieces of vinyl stored in pretty much every room of his house, including 2 sheds completely full of 45's

It was mostly shite mind.

(actually the hereditory bits bollocks cos he wasn't a blood relative)

but there are some i may never play again but do really love.

If you love them why throw them away?

If you need to do so for practical reasons decide how many must go and then make a pile of ones you are less attached to until you reach that number.

You've been more anguished than me about this!!

It's the CDs that make the mess anyway.

Pull out the notional thousand never-played records and set aside a weekend to play them all through at least once. Work out which ones still hold some kind of musical value for you, and sell the rest. Rinse and repeat.

yeah. i used to never get rid of anything, but you know how it all builds up. in the end it takes over. regular purges make you feeel good, and release some space for more records.

i'm currently purging records. it's a slow job, but i've reached maximum space. i've made three hundred quid or more on ebay in teh last month.
