I think this is too blunt a tool - sometimes bumping ancient threads can lead to very interesting discussions and contrasts, just... not the ones about wanking and ill-advised sex really.

Perhaps. It's a difficult one to get right I suppose, and no solution would be perfect.

My own experience is that I find bumped threads where I find myself reading my ancient gauche opinions about politics and the like very worthwhile - it's easy to imagine the things you think today being the things you always thought, and it's helpful to be reminded that's not true from time to time. The ones where I'm talking about fucking though? I do not need to read those.

I was going to suggest that maybe the knobbing and sobbing forum should have a time limit on replies before it locks itself. Say 12 months since last reply.
