and nice weather may not be absolutely vital, but it is kinda nice.

Oh I think that even more than you do, but I don't think you'd gain enough from moving it -- honestly.

Law of Sod man. Unprovable, but instinctive .... move it to later = more mudbaths in July and = sudden outbreak of hot, dry, sunny late Junes ;)

<sets up hippy wibble stall on a leyline to 'prove' this .. :p ;) >

There was no serious mudbath between Glasto 1984 (the first, and worst mudbath)
i think you'll find that was 1985.

If you cant get such simple facts right, why should i trust your analysis? eh, eh, eh? answer me that mr festographer sir! climatologist you be not - indeed, your analysis bears significant similarities to that of the climate change denying loon who keeps getting those programmes on channel 4! it's all been down to sunspots

BOLLOCKS! ( at self ) Thats really rreally annoying -- I saw 1984 when I was posting that post and thought : must change that. Then had a toke and forgot to :o

I knew it was 1985, I was there in 1984 (sunshine!), and in 1985 my mates' truck got stuck in up to the axles and I was glad I couldnlt make it ... apparantly it rained ALL THE TIME in 1985, right uop to the last day, virtualy without abreak.

Shit happens ;)

The broader point stands, there was no mudbath after 1985, up to the major one of 1997.

And you know perfectly well I'm no denialist on CC -- as Kaka Tim correctly said yesterday, arguing with them is like arguing with fucking creationists. . Nor do I claim to be a scientist, in fact those posts were pretty obviously not claiming that. I do think though that CC can have volatile effects - such as might lead to a mudbath in June 2007 and a scorcher in June 2008, or -- who knows? -- a possible mudbath in July too ....

I'd gamble -- and I admit it's a gamble -- in keeping the fest when it is. It's a pretty safe gamble that the Eavises won't move it, anyway -- take it up with them! :p

Can I be boring? The really boring answer is that the license requires it to be the first weekend post solstice. Bored yet? ;)

Reread my sentence ("up to 1997), Mr Argumentative -- does it exclude 1998? Eh? :p

And I mentioned 1998 anyway, in the earlier '1984' post ...

paolo's right btw ....

In my time (12 Glastonburies) the dry ones outnumber the muddy ones -- just.
