i used to mix vinegar and salt together so as not to ave to put them on seperately, and to get a more even salt coating on the chips.

im sure it never worked
 
I'm really talking about the Scottish "sauce", where you get "salt n sauce", with the sauce being a particular sort of brown sauce diluted with vinegar. That way it satisfies both sauce-addition and vinegarisation purposes, without making the fried goods overly soggy.
 
Salt & real malt vinegar on chips FTW. Try asking for vinegar on your chips in Germany and you'll get looked at like you've suggested an unnatural act.
 
I was thinking about the cost of production. I guess maybe there are some cheap byproduct chemicals of paper manufacturing or something that when thrown together taste like vinegar. I mean how expensive is it to make real vinegar?

and what is up with you and curry Herbsman? I would have thought pizza would rank higher in your opinion. :eek:
