shorts on men

3/4 length shorts are not something I would ever consider until I am well into my 40's and I am having some sort of mid life crises. They are the worst things, neither shorts nor trousers. Dad wear (yes I am a dad, but not one of those kinds).

I used to go for the cargo shorts with the big pockets, but I can not be bothered by those anymore so got some Nike shorts and wear with a simple t-shirt or fitted polo shirt. Formality and shorts do not go together.

Like this monstrosity

or the casual jacket&shorts combination

Awfull... if it is that hot why bother wearing a suit jacket at all :confused: Also the tucking the shirt into the shorts thing....

argh the shoes!
awful
i saw a man with very flimsy looking flip flops on with some shorts, made him look a bit, erm effeminate. im not opposed to flip flips, but they should be sturdy ones, or sandals.

i cant stop looking at those dreadul shoes
and his thighs :o

Matching dress shorts. These were also very prevalent as pairings with suit jackets. As usual, lengths ran from quite short to a moderate 3/4 down the thigh. It all depends on you how high those shorts will go. Just think how cute those would look with a pair of suspenders!

can anyone think of a circumstance when they might be acceptable to wear (other than sport)?

they look fucking ridiculous.

Absolutley none at all.

Especially the baggy knee-length or longer "toddler-style" shorts that so many guys seem to think makes them the coolest thing on bandy legs.

You have hit the nail on the head, bang-on here! :)

As long as they aren't wearing sandals and socks too! :p

No, socks are the only way to go.

I have seen far too many "ecologist's feet" wobling about in sandals at coffee cup or lunch height at work

Spare us your flaking foosty feet please! :p :)

I hate shorts on anyone. Despite this, I do wear them as you get very hot cycling in long trousers.

I don't think I've ever been out with a man who has worn shorts. I remember once a male friend phoned me up and said "Do you want to come out and help me look for a pair of shorts?" to which my reply was "Er, not really..."

I rarely wear long trousers between May and October - I stretch it further each year.

My "sport" involves cycling to work and then doing physical things.

I don't care what I look like. :p

 How on earth can anyone wear those! That's awful....

Shorts every day at work for me as soon as it gets warm enough, without fail. I cycle about a mile each way and it makes the day much more pleasant to be comfy and cool. I wear a smart, short sleeved shirt, usually black or striped. Top button undone. REALLY FUCKIN BRIGHT colourful board shorts and a pair of clean(ish) running shoes... I've always got a colour theme goin on though... Brown, blue or green usually.

Not long ago I was in a quite important meeting, I'd come in shorts but bought a tie, black shoes, belt but forgot my trousers! Luckily no one batted an eyelid, even though they were all senior management, all suits and poshness.. I'm just known as that young colourful lad now.... That'll do me.

I'll get someone to take a photo if I get chance, I'll prove once and for all that shorts rule!
:hmm:

I was at a sports day yesterday and most of the men were in shorts, most of them looked fine, a couple looked HOT and a few looked awful :(. It depends on the style of shorts and the guys legs I think :)

i must admit i spent a great deal of sunday afternoon surreptitiously perving on strange men from behind my sunglasses.
