Shocked by gate quote

AM I right to be shocked by this quote?

Our gate fell to bits in the storm the other night, and a local firm say a new wooden gate (6ft high, to span a 3ft 8 width) will cost us £155!!

I was expecting about £60 or £70....am I just out of touch with the gate world,or is he having a laugh??

It's a full gate that you can't see through, not a slatted one. But it is still only made of wood.

With gates its always better buying the fucker somewhere else and then paying someone to fit it, a gate the size of yours should have been about 60 quid
