Completley wrong about the Black Crowes.

Souless? WTF?

Get some new ears, son.

i like the ones i've got thanks. any ears that can turn three snakes and a charm into something listenable are ears that i don't don't want on my head. who knows what toss they'd convince me was good

Quite like Argus by Wishbone Ash and they are awful does that count?

I was 12 at the time though  bless my mum and her terrible 70s rock. Mind you Humble Pie were good.

All QotSA records are ace by the way.

this thread is full of wrongness!

I nominate Weezers blue album. They're far from shite as a band, but everything else (apart from pinkerton maybe) leaves me cold where as the blue album is one of my favorite albums of all time.

green album was ace and maladroit had some good songs too

Oasis 'Possibly Maybe' - had some energy and drive and swagger before it all became just swagger and lots of 'Hiiigghhhheee/ In the skyyyyyeeee/Why-eeee?'

i'd agree with Weezer, however I'd nominate Pinkerton as their one redeeming feature. The blue album is entertaining enough if you're fifteen but hasn't stood the test of time, the green album was good for a couple of listens but once you got over the immediacy you realised it was actually rubbish, and Maladroit is fucking awful. Pinkerton, however, hasn't got a bad track on it, is full of complex and entertaining songs and represents his only use of clever lyrics. What entertains me is that bland MTV pop-rock is wht Rivers Cuomo clearly dreamt of making, as he is deeply embarrassed by the intelligent musicianship on display on Pinkerton to the extent that, the last i heard, he refused to play any of the songs or discuss the record in interviews. *very slow applause*

good post but i still reckon green and blue album and maladroit are deserving of far more praise than you give them :p

interesting analysis. maybe i should have a relisten to pinkerton. I still think the blue album is as close to a perfect pop album as you can get.

perhaps i'm a little harsh on the blue album, but on this forum there's no place for fence-sitters!

I complete disagree too. Black Crowes have put out some good songs out over the years. If you stuck on keeping your existing ears, then trying cleaning them every now and then.

if the year is 1992 and the songs are on that album you're right. otherwise, no. no they haven't.

Only one of their albums Ive ever owned

I bought that when I was at school because I fancied a girl who liked U2. Still makes me shivver to think of it.

bit unfair to call them a shit band if you think that's a great album though. It constitutes about 33% of their recorded output!

I thought about the Stone Roses, but then I realised that I don't find "The Second Coming" as bad as many people make out. I think it's hurt by what preceded it. Also, whilst a collection rather than a studio album, "Turns Into Stone" is pretty good, especially "Fool's Gold".
