Shepards Bush- Is it thought to be a rough place?

The only people I have known to be mugged were the BBC types. It's like they get targetted. Maybe I was just lucky.

I never had any issue living there. Well that's not entirely true, had some scraps with some aussie wankers but if you throw a ball at them you'll find they play amongst themselves and ignore you. Also the fuckers all come out into their gardens as soon as it's sunny and play crowded house songs whilst wearing sandals.

I felt safer living in Shepherds Bush than I did living in the suburbs to be honest.

shepherds bush is far posher than it used to be.

i grew up there, and loved it. it has changed a hell of a lot in the past ten years though, due to the big old victorian houses available that only the 'posh' can afford innit. still pleny rough parts just gotta look for them :D

as for the cabby, no idea why he wouldnt go there, perhaps he thought you meant white city ;)

i was born in the bush and i miss the BBC gardens the market of course and beejams and the doughnut diner and the white horse:(

It certainly wasn't posh when I lived there in the mid-sixties.

It wasnt in the 70's or 80's far more irish and west indian community based around the white hose and the market:cool:

But with holland park looming large it was bound to spread eventually:(

No way! I worked there for about a month and as I lived in Zone 6 at the time, one of the lads in the office let me doss in his spare room. Good part of London I found but I did feel a bit cut off from the main city and dull on the weekends.

BBC gardens? Tell me more. I'll be working in White City in a few months and want to know more about the area

Hammersmith Park, next to Television centre. It's quite nice, with a Japanese Garden. Holland Park up the road is nice too.
The market is great, IMO anyway, it has it's own vibe.

See, you say they're all cunts up West, but secretly you want to be one. You want to drive a 4x4 and go to the deli and the farmer's market, get your hair done and go to the Urban Spa, then off for drinks and let the au pair pick up the kids. Insert "knock over a cyclist" in there somewhere.

Shepherd's Bush Market? Its mainly full of tacky stalls selling mobile phone parts, cheap plastic toys, asian lady wear, reggae CD-Rs, and the odd falafel seller.

Not much to write home about to be honest

Haha, well I do want a deli and a food market near where I work, as I don't have the time to shop elsewhere. Do I have to do all the other stuff too?

Haha, true, but they've got a tailor in the market! Classy.

Do they? Not that I've ever actually gone looking for a tailor, admittedly.

It's nothing particularly unusual for a market, certainly, but it's a decent enough one.

Today at the market, I bought a big bag of garlic, some rocket, some chillies, a chunk of ginger and a mop bucket.

Ooh, I liked the felafels. Much better than the felafels over here, tbh. They served them with a chilli sauce that gave it a bit of a kick. Lovely.

i lived in shepards bush with one of the folk who used to vandalise the blue peter garden when she was a kid

shepards bush is tops, busked round the corner from safeways for 2 years 1993/94

good people

The area south of the green is what you'd call posh I suppose. Brackenbury Village where lots of media types live apparently and Louis theroux). The bit north is where the shopping centre is going and the bit east is Holland Park where it's mansions ahoy.

the bit west is the 'shithole'. White City Estate and Wormholt Road area where the football ground is. But it's where I grew up so it's my shithole.
