Shed Seven...

I saw Shed 7 at Phoenix festival in 1996. I literally could not believe or understand how people were enjoying it so much but they were going off like they were at Altamont or something.

I listened to Sleeper's album a week ago when I was bored on a train and plumbing the depths of my ipod. Awful stuff and now I can't get it out of my head. Let this be a warning.

Cast - fantastic band. Mother Nature Calls is an awesome album. John Powr's lyrics are still good to this day.

Suede were good until Bernard Butler left, Coming up is an okay album but nothing like Dog Man Star.

Also, I like Elastica.....

Anyone who made it onto a Shine compilation was and is still loved by me. Fuck you, the ninties never died

I think I've still got some Shine compilations somewhere. :o

I love Gene still and Sleeper and Suede were other big favourites. I was listening to Sleeper on Spotify the other night, I think they were great. Never really liked Shed Seven.

Shed Seven were cack and the frontman looked like he might be a hobbit. I firmly enjoyed many songs from other mediocre bands of the period, however.

My Girlfriend's a fan of Shed Seven,
She's particularly fond of Rick Witter,
I said bollocks to that,
Take off your hat
And let's have a look up your nose.

:D

I quite liked The Bluetones too.

And I went to see James. :o Lost £100 at that gig too. :(

It was a terrible time for music. Nothing good for anyone. I'm not sure we ever recovered from it.

there was some absolutely great stuff on the fringes - Stereolab, Prolapse, the beginning of Mogwai, etc. The middle of the road is never where the interesting stuff is, and Britpop was pretty much as middle of the road as it got
