no it wasn't - it was rubbish pub rock, just like everything else they've done. :confused:

its not like everything else they've done because most of the other stuff they have done is rubbish compared to the first album. The main reason i play guitar and a big reason why i really got into guitar music was Oasis so ill always have a place in my heart for them, especially definitely maybe :cool:

Kula Shaker played two superb sets at Glastonbury. Can't remember which year but they were splendid.

i think i watched both sets too :o

weren't they the mystery Sunday band that year? there was the usual rumours....will it be Nirvana, Radiohead, The Beatles, etc...?

nope. it's Kula Shaker. AGAIN.

Kula Shaker were SO awful. I remember reading a description of them when they first came out saying that they were like "Stone Roses goes to Goa". So stupid old me goes to record shop to buy 3-track single CD expecting a sort of stone roses revival with trancey overtones. I get it home to find it's a bunch of stodgy awful reef-style crap. :mad:

Ah yes, Kula Shaker, who proved that even when you think the depths of nauseating tedium have been reached by Shed Seven and Reef, and the heights of arrogance reached by the Gallagher brothers, there's always some band who're more useless, and a frontman who's a bigger pissflap.

Doesn't the lead singer of Kula Shaker have some really dodgy politics?

Kula Shaker really were awful, pretentious shite. Worse than either Reef or Shed Seven, both of which stunk to high heaven, although Reef were the worse of the two by quite some way IMHO.

Every Shed 7 song just seemed to shamble about for a bit looking for a tune before conceding defeat and curling up in a corner to die.

Reef were one of those bands discovered by some ad exec weren't they.

Yeah, he didn't like democracy, thought that people needed strong guidance from a dictatorship instead.
I know one of the music weeklies tried to tie that in with him having been a guitarist in a band whose singer was ex NF, but I'm not a fan of guilt by association, and his own words were more than enough to make him look like a right dodgy cunt.
Not that I'd expect a privately-educated "rich kid" to have a world-view that corresponded with reality to any great degree, if I'm honest. :)

That's one of the best descriptions of their oeuvre I've ever read! :D

Some say "discovered", others say "manufactured". ;)

This thread brings to mind a certain Helen Love song;

"You got Longpigs, and the Bluetones,
Your big pop stars, your big pop stars,
Hey all you boys in Ocean Colour Scene,
You'll never sell more singles than Gina G.

But Johnny Cigarettes and Steven Wells,
Don't get upset, your paper will still sell,
Because Chris Evans,
And Shed Seven,
Will save the UK music scene."

:):D

I've just Googled Kula Shaker and Crispian Mills is a proper spoilt rich brat. It sort of follows that he would hold such views. What a cock.

I love that song, it's genius.

by the way, I've heard Kula Shaker are back - so watch out.

Try as I might, all I can remember about Reef is 'Place you hands'. thats yer lot, so not really in a position to judge. I do remember, however, the horror that was Menswe@r. Now they were shit.

Another sample helen love lyric then;

"He's under medication, and heavy sedation, since Kula Shaker came along"
:D

Just out of interest, what relation are Kula Shaker to 2Pac? ;)

I've seen Reef and Shed Seven play live (and Kula shaker)

Reef are unmitigated shite.
shed Seven - well - I can't work up strong feelings either way.

When I saw Kula shaker at Reading Festival - I really enjoyed them - got no records by them though.
