"She really don't like it,

Wildwest Jesus being "led out to die on cavalry," rather than "Calvary."

that reminds me of one - possible a typo - on another forum ages ago re Jona Lewie's christmas classic Stop the Calvary:D

and there was a legendary for a while one from a clash forum of somebody completely mishearing Garageland, as Garry's Pants. Cue a string of running jokes re coming from Garry's pants:eek::D

My friend Colin thought that the chorus of The Pixies' Monkey's gone to heaven was "This much is known for certain." Despite knowing the title of the song. :)

i'm still undecided wether Struimmer's singing about "some crazy weirdo" or widow on Yalla Yalla - the (typed) lyrics in the booklet say widow but some of his handwritten lyrics on global a go go and streetcore do not match what he's actually singing:hmm:

my sister used to drive me crazy with this one....

MAGGIE MAY....

"I suppose I could collect my books and go back to school
Or steal my daddys kilt and make a living out of playing fool"

grrr.

I'm still convinced that in the Hot Hot Heat song Bandages they're actually singing about someone called "Bernard James".

moar:
Ramones - Blitzkrieg Bop: going through a time wind (as in wind up)
the new Wiley track about "money in his pocket" and either a shoe (or according to the dj) or a squirrel in his wallet

back to The Clash - from Rudie Can't Fail "chicken brew for breakfast" - well it'll go well with the chicken skin suit:cool::D

The Pogues, from Fairytale Of New York - "..an arable stat/strap and a drip in that bed" and (no) thanks to an early Never mind the Buzzcocks I still hear the first lines of Wuthering Heights as "Up on the windy, windey moors, sweet Roland fall in brie"

A friend thought it was

"Oh no! your hair's too long, you can't catch love with an anorak on"

It wasn't :D

James - Tomorrow

"You had distemper, like my jealous eel" :D

:D I knew that line wasn't really it though which makes it worse :o

still get occasionally flashbacks to their version of Son Of My Father
"he pretended I was blended in a plastic mug"

still on a Buzzcocks note - took me ages to realise Belinda Carlisle (iirc) was wrong about Swords Of A Thousand Men featuring a barrel of fudge :o

Bowie - Ashes To Ashes

a flash of light but no smoking allowed
though that was the real line for years :o:D
