Sharon Fruit

If you leave them around for a day too long and they do over-ripen, like I did, they make a good addition to a beef or lamb curry.

hmm, firm, soft, squidgy. Think mine may not be fully ripened as they're pretty firm to the touch, barely any give at all

Maybe I'll wait a few days. Where shall I leave 'em? At room temperature or in a fridge?
Better to err on the side of over-ripe. If they're not ripe enough, one bite is enough to turn your entire body into a dessicated husk

Ripe ones are delicious though.

littlebabycheeses insists their taste is indistinguishable from mango, but I disagree. They taste like sweet TCP to me :D

Funny things Sharon fruit. I like them but just one every now n then....I eat the skin too which is quite tasty if the fruit is lovely and ripe but it's texture is a bit weird...kinda crunchy n soft. :D

I should fucking hope not, I don't think I could eat them if they were.

It's named after the Sharon river valley in Israel. Admittedly, most persimmons in the UK do come from Israel; however it's just wrong to call all persimmons Sharon Fruit.

Well they've been sitting on my desk since last week and I finally plucked up the courage to eat one.

Strange things. I think I like them. Texture made me think of a cross between a mango and a kiwi fruit and the taste... I dunno, reminded me of vanilla

or maybe it was banana?

Very popular in China though I fucking hate them personally. Also refuse to call them sharon fruit, they've got a perfectly good name already.
