Shared web hosting for a small business?

I've seen a lot better, I'm using a lot better too. Dreamhost are my hosts, i worked out dollars->pounds that for a years hosting you'd be paying £64 for the following:
  • 20 GB storage (Automatically Increases Weekly By: 160 MB)
  • 1 TB bandwidth (Automatically Increases Weekly By: 8 GB)
  • 1 free domain
  • unlimited domains hosted
  • unlimited emails
The list goes on... if you want to read about dreamhost's Crazy Domain Insane! package click here.

If you refer me too, much as if someone refers you as a member you'll get money back.

I use them and I happily recommend them to anyone.

What's their support like - I'm a newbie and as you already know, my technical skills are somewhat limited :D

It really is very good, they have most things autimated so you don't have to stress yourself out with installation... for example with blogs, galleries and CMSs, they have lots of documentation explaning things, they have a forum for questions to be answered and they also accept emails in which they respond pretty well to. They also even have a status report website to show you any technical problems they're having and what to expect. They are a massive company so don't expect a little 2-bit enterprise that go down because they didn't feed the hamster powering the servers.

Can you add paypal buttons so you can sell things?

I must be running out of 'ask scathed' time, surely ? :D

Actually they have a pre-scripted shopping cart called: zencart on it which you can use and set up a shop... all you have to do really is sort out the colours and the text for the items in the shop. Oh and a few extras, like, who it is going to pay the money to and so on... I've not looked into it but I'm sure it being something Dreamhost use will be relatively simple.

Hey hey!... I just found a way of saving you more money! $20 off any product if you quote the following reference code if you sign up:

SCATHED20

(this goes to anyone)

Dreamhost have been having really serious scalability problems recently - they've grown too large too fast, and haven't been able to cope. Their email support is a bit crap too.

I've been with 1&1 for years (small business, domain reseller) and not had any serious problems. Their tech support isn't particularly, uh, technical, but apart from that they're very cheap. :)

Not yet. I haven't finished the website yet :) There's also the possibilty that I could get some funding as I'm moving into employment off sickness benefits so I'll wait till I've seen the DWP people.

Let me know if you are. I need to give you my email so that you can refer me. Stupid I know.

Did watch soylent green after all?
