Shambala Festival 2008

I subscribe to the Shambala e-mail updates and they just sent me the following message ( warning ! contains cheap but good quality beer and bar prices .) :-

'' Right get bloody excited! The acts are all booked, the site is looking lush and we are all leaving to start the build tomorrow. Here’s a last few minute reminders.

Check you have your e ticket with PIN code for entry.
Print your vehicle routing pass if you bought one, and place in car on arrival.
Directions are on the e ticket! Yes it’s that simple.

If you have ANY ticket queries, ring the TICKET HOTLINE: 0844 870 0000. There is no email ticket contact.

Just a little plea to all our friends and family. Shambala is 100% independent and free from any corporate interference or agendas. This is our choice but it makes funding the event increasingly difficult year on year.

We try and make this festival as affordable and accessible as we possibly can and the bar revenue is key into making the event sustainable. So please, please support us by leaving your supermarket crap at home and buying quality, reasonably priced drinks from one of the four uniquely themed bars on site.

Here’s a just selection of what’s on offer:

Bala Beer a ridiculous £3.20
Organic Lager a measly £3.50
Over 20 real ales from local breweries £3.00- £3.20
Dangerous Scrumpy cider £3.00
Divine cocktails to die for from our very own Beach Shack Bar From £3.50
All this and much more

Remember there is strictly NO GLASS ON SITE (H&S)

Make use of the full program of workshops on site. See attached workshops program for details - http://www.shambalafestival.org/Shambala_Workshops.pdf . Full programs available as you arrive from the welcome tent after wrist-banding, and from Public Info tent.

Don’t forget that EVERYONE will be in fancy dress Saturday night. Join us for the carnival – starts 5.30 (check program) from the lakeside area.

Safe journey, see you in a field soon ! ''

There are a few tickets left and you will get them on time because this year the tickets are e-tickets. Log onto the Ticketsellers website and buy tickets and they will send you the ticket details by e-mail immmediatly. i'm in agreement with Groundelder and others , this is a brilliant festival. 3 sleeps. Leave to crew on Tuesday. See you there !

campervan ticket needed

for a mate. They've sold out :( There are already several posts on the Shambala forum wanting van tickets too. If anyone can help, please pm me.

I note William Weather hasn't been here for a couple of weeks. Metcheck says it's gonna be glorious.... from Weds 27th  Let's hope they're sooo wrong.

So any other Urbanites going? I bought my ticket from a shop and have yet to receive an email

is it me or is there no lineup on the website? not my kind of festie then!

however I do like the sound of van p0rn, being a van owner myself now...

I'd be jealous of that ale choice, were it not for the fact that I am working in the ale serving trade anyway Friday and Saturday, at Deb's festival in Wales ... many more ales there! :p

Weather looking pretty reasonable for you folks .... at this stage anyway. Better than for us in Wales!! :hmm:

And by the way (can't be too often repeated!!) Metcheck always undercook temps in their summer forecasts. With that much sunshine, and winds as light as that, they should be noticeably warmer. Latest trends -- tonight's -- still look more than OK for your part of the country :) ...and that's before the 27th ....

anyone in London know anyone who got space in a car/crusty wagon going to this?

got a ticket but can't afford the fare, :( can chuck in a tenner and meet wherever's convenient

and im lovely

they never release the lineup. the music is always excellent, it means they can book bands based on quality rather than name recognition, music ranges across all genres, with an emphasis on dub/reggae/world music/ska/folk on the main stage.. dance (more breakbeat than 4/4) in the dance dome and random stuff on the lakeside and in the bedouin.
i've never known before going who is playing, and i've never been dissapointed.

This should be merged with Reading I reckon.
Pretty much the same crowd and vibe by the look of things.

:D

dry is pushing it a bit, but it didn't rain in the days.. backstage got pretty muddy on thursday and friday though with so many trucks moving around.
enjoyed it alot.. misty's big adventure and the destroyers were superb, and horace andy was pretty special too. still got a great vibe, still feels different to the other festivals i've been to. Yet again failed to go to the woods, but apparently there were ket-baby traps in there... cargo nets strung up, which as more people got in them, got harder to get out of.. especially when the people are on ketamine ;)
