Shambala 2009

Yep saw the fire lanterns  Wasn't really paying much attention to the music though, so don't know about the stoppage?

We all had a fab weekend, it's in a great site with plenty of spaces to explore.

I'm still recovering from a few a days on the bargain £3.50 rum punches. Will def be back next year...:)

One of my work colleagues was there, chopping coconuts for a Carribean food stall and DJ'ing. He said it was great. May go next year with the little one.

There was a marching band all dressed in pink at the fancy dress parade....... does anyone know who they were, i saw a website written on a trombone but cant remember it

they were all dressed in pink

I was becoming disillusioned with the state of present day festivals, but Shambala shows that you can still have a safe, legal party without compromising the festival's soul. Brilliant site, with something great every ten yards. Personal highlights were the Carnival Collective on the main stage, an evening in the people's living room, spending time with Kalidarkone and other old friends, getting my kettle mended at the blacksmiths and the knitting dome, just because it was there.

Shambala's strength is its attention to detail :)

Crazy Golf  I must have spent 50% of my time in there with my son ruining everyone's games. I'm sorry I was too hungover/tired to keep chastsing the poor little mite.
Did you like the wooden thrones and benches around the fire?

Did anyone have a go at the roller-disco? I think it was only on 2-6pm on the Friday. Me and mate when in after a few hours on cider and bucks fizz whilst I had a ace time going round and re-aquainting myself with stoppers my mate when up and down on her arse and gave up.

Real pity it was not there on other days as we had 2 kids that wanted to have a go but at that time were off making hobby horses!

Watched for a bit, someone we met even brought there own roller skates with them to the festival!

Anyone take part in Kings of Ping?

Gotta mention the wooden/graffiti toilets... the best, most spacious and light toilets at a festival ever.

did anyone visit the 'recursive function immersible dome' with videos projected in surround? my mate played in it

I danced in there a bit on the last night, great music tech house I think, great festi all in all, despite having to let all the little sprogs play through our game on the crazy golf, 2000 out of 7000 peeps were kids apparently

Scariest part of the festival was the cinema showing some weird horror/comedy Bollywood thing ....where a singing dance routine was followed by a child being decapitated...

We got the fuck out of there quick :(

Roller disco and crazy golf? Fuck off!

I'd heard it was some terrible hippy/largely dub/reggae type festival which quite frankly strikes fear into the heart of Twisted Kitten (fine if you like that sorta thing but Morrissey has told us reggae is vile so who are we to argue?) but we might be able to play next year. Could be WAY more on board after some of these reports!

...e2a: Sound Of Rum were excellent, best I heard, the MC at least, Katie Tempest was it?
Katie Tempest did a stint in the Rebel Soul tent during the poetry slam session thingy, she was really rather brilliant. And the guy whose family was from Iraq was brilliant as well, can't remember his name, but apparently he's a bit famous in those kind of poetry circles. And the guy who did the wikipedia thing was very funny, a bit John Hegley-esque.

The Quiet Loner was really bloody good as well doing his songs and commentary on CCTV. Really recommend you go if you can catch him anywhere.

It is a very 'green' festival, and there is a lot of reggae, but there's also a bit of ska, some drum and bass...... its a real mix, with lots and lots of activities to do etc......

I definately thought it was the best festival ive been to...... it was my first time at shambala too....
