Sex And The City is here! (no spoilers)

Rubbish. It's a bit of fun, not a lifestyle choice.

Just because people like clothes and shoes (and trashy american tv) doesn't mean they don't also have opinions about politics, films, or music. Life doesn't have to be serious all the time.

Anyway, that show has covered breast cancer, infertility and impotence amongst other things so it's not entirely frivolous.

I know! That's why I used to like it. But it just went on for too long and it became a parody of itself and made a mockery out of women's lives and aspirations.

I do like pretty things! But I don't worship them.

So, the movie comes out tomorrow finally and I'm so excited I could pee my pants. :D

There's a big group of us going tomorrow night and I think a couple of cocktails might be involved.

No amount of piss taking or slagging off will dampen my extreme excitement so go for it, do your worst. ;)

So, who's going? Anyone had a sneak preview?

Please no spoilers. :)

I can't imagine a film that I would want to see less. But never the less enjoy, whatever rocks your boat. :)

Me too, I'd rather stick pins in my eyes.

I didn't admit this to the presenter on Radio Newcastle who interviewed me last week about high heels (and Carrie).

I'm a shoe designer and I don't think they could secure an interview with Manolo Blahnik! They got me instead - poor womans' Manolo who wears wellies and lives on a marsh.

4 tiresome clothes horses drone on and on about their sex lives, and it all ends in clothes horse number one getting married in a manner that suggests the programme wasn't quite the empowering phenomenon we were supposed to believe.

El Jefe wins the thread. I wouldn't have so much of a problem with SATC if so many people didn't see it as the ultimate in feminist statements. It's like watching your typical 50's housewife sitcom, except now the housewife wears Prada and has to juggle a job and her crrraaazy lovelife! It's about as liberating of gender stereotypes as Nuts.

Yeah yeah, don't take everything so seriously stdP...

As an aside, a friend of mine whose taste I respect informs me that the soundstrack (freebie that got delievered to their work) sucks donkey balls. Joss Stone covering Al Green for example. Dido may also be involved.

Exactly, some people take things far too seriously. :)

I get the impression that some of you think people who like Sex And The City are all brain dead bimbos who take it as gospel and mould their lives on it.

Christ, give us some credit.

This is as accurate a synopsis as you'll get.

But that's who you (and any woman that's ever watched it) model yourself and your life on isn't it? ;) :D

Not everyone, no. Met plenty of people who think it's just entertaining pap. But the people who do take it seriously leave a very, very bitter taste in my mouth. No offence intended, I just talk too much :)

I've never met anyone who takes it that seriously. Tell me more about these people?

I love it, I looked forward to every episode and have the box set.
It has made me lol and cry but I realise it's just a show.

I'm going to watch it just for Jason Lewis.

Me neither.

It's lol-worthy fun, where you get to see some tits, pathetic sex-talk (that is often cringe-inducing) and indulge your whim for following some obvious love stories.

Nothing wrong with that.

I think it's pretty damn obvious there's nothing in there about feminism. The makers might think so, but intelligent viewers don't.

What it might say about feminism is that in our fucked up media world, some women think that having lots of sex and earning lots of money means they are equal and free.

Think again, sister.

*burns bra*

Aiden was the better person. So lovely, so wonderful, so kind, so caring, so warm, so fucking gorgeous.

Big, well yes, perhaps he was the right man for Carrie, but he wouldn't be the right man for me :p

Yeh but Aidan was dull :p

A little bit, yep. :D

I would have chosen Big for that reason. Aidan was too settled and cosy, Big was sexy, exciting and unpredictable.

Just did google image for Mr Big. Don't do that at work without safe search. :)
