i've always done it like that :thumbs : if you're only taking up a couple of inches or so a flare shouldn't matter - i'd start on the inside seam so if it doesn't quite line up when you get all the way round it won't be visible. stretch shouldn't matter either. i've never cut off the spare, just tacked it at the seams, so it's all reversible if it does screw up
