Seven Percent Cider

*cough* wasn't that my recommendation mr agnes? :D :p
Indeed it was, aqua, and excellent it was, too. You'll note that the recipe has undergone a few enhancements, born of experience....

I didn't name the "other site", out of courtesy, but if anyone wants the link, er...ask Aqua :D

Ive just rececntly stuck a 25 pint batch on the bubble, supermarket apple juice, a jar of honey and champagne yeast, its supposed to take two weeks, we'll see.

So here we are a month later. Is this the reason you've been posting less?

I just picked up 16 1.5l Lidl apple juices. I am going to do a 22.5l batch, plus I've promised to teach the Teenager how to brew cider so she can get pissed at uni and thereby save money, not to mention supplement her grant with illicit hooch homebrew cider sales to the other students. Teaching her to brew will be a piece of proverbial...teaching her how to be discreet may be a little trickier...

I've got the first load on the go now. Starting with 4.5l demijohn. If it's a success I might think bigger. If I was making a big batch would I be able to store the cider in a pressure barrel once it had fermented?

Yes. Personally, though, I'd bottle it. Depends how fast you're planning on getting through it...

I will have a ton of apples in the autumn so I am going to make some scrumpy and get the skitters

I took first refusal on my neighbour's apple crop...looking across at his tree, it's going to be a bit monster.

I am going to need to find some way of pressing this lot.

Use a blender :)

That bit's easy. It's the bit where I don't want a whole bunch of apple pulp in my cider that's trickier...

Mind you, I suspect a lot of it will settle out, so a bit of careful siphoning and filtering will probably do the trick...
