Any ideas? :confused: :mad:

Help!!!

Someone come and fix it LOL

I had a similar problem. Had to phone the helpline who talked me through the complex process of switching off and back on again (and some fiddly bits involving clicking the mouse and reading out codes displayed on the screen, but they were a little taken aback when switching off and on again didn't work first time.)

turn what on and back on again?

Restart the PC?

With the modem attached or not?

I didnt buy my new ISP's modem as I already had one will they help me? :(

They told me to unplug the modem and plug it back in again. :)

Didn't work though :confused: Then later some numbers changed and it worked :) Don't know how I changed the numbers :confused:

Someone who knows something come and help Zenie! :mad:

what hardware are you using?

hardware is a speedtouch 330 adsl modem

old ISP Tesco new one Nildram

thejn for a start it should be pppoa not pppoe

* VPI: 0
* VCI: 38
* PPP Type/Encapsulation: PPPoA (PPP over ATM) NOT PPPoE
* Framing: VC-MUX
* Modulation/Mode: G.DMT

* DNS Primary: 213.208.106.212
* DNS Secondary: 213.208.106.213
* MTU: 1500

those are the setting you need for nildram ... now in my case i stick the ip address of my router into my browser and go poke about with it via that

i dunno about the other one

Thanks shippy I will have a look :cool:

<edit> Pingu Those details match my order/installation guide I just dunno where they go on my PC!!

Technology! :o

Go to "My Network Places' it should be on desktop, or in your start menu.

It will probably be blank, so click on the link on the left that says "View Network Connections"

You should see a LAN Connection. See if it says connected or not.

If it is connected go to your browser and type in:

213.208.106.212

This should bring up a page of your modem settings. Have a look around til you can find the one that states what protocol you should be using, it should as Shippou said be PPPoA not PPPoE as it currently is.

You may have to run the whole set-up process again, just be sure to pick PPPoA this time around. You may have accidentally just clicked continue at some point when you should have changed the option.

Let us know if any of this works.

Yeah plug in the ADSL modem. Then go through the process above.

Yep I did!:cool:

There isnt an IP address or default gateway address on any of my documents and if I put in what you said fong nothing happens just a blank page or it tries (and fails) to connect to the net :o

Ok go to start menu, then go to run.

In the blank space, may have something there but delete it and type in: cmd

Press enter.

When you get a Dos box window up, type in: ipconfig

Press enter.

You will get either nothing, or:

Ethernet/Wireless Adaptor, Local Area Network

Connection-specific DNS Suffix ........:lan
IP Address..........: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX

The IP address if it shows up there is the IP address that should take you to your router page.

If you are not getting this message, let me know.

1) Press start

2) then click run

3) in the box that comes up type cmd

4) in the black screen that then comes up type ipconfig

5) write down what the IP address says

(in fact write down everything that comes up)

6) then close the black box

7) disconnect any internet connection you have

8) type the ip address in the url box of whatever browser you are using - this brings up your modem page

9) change PPPOe to PPPOa

10) double check the other settings are what shippy said earlier ie

* VPI: 0
* VCI: 38
* PPP Type/Encapsulation: PPPoA (PPP over ATM) NOT PPPoE
* Framing: VC-MUX
* Modulation/Mode: G.DMT

* DNS Primary: 213.208.106.212
* DNS Secondary: 213.208.106.213
* MTU: 1500

10) save the new settings

11) then try and connect to the internet

(edit: ooops Fong just did the same !)

Drivers were FUBAR, didn't work initially until after doing the BT Testconnection. Works now though (after aschoolboy error typing the p/w wrong... )
