I wasn't suggesting you have a pot luck. I was pointing out that people could bring things to your house, without you having to drive around to fetch the things.




) implication seems to be that it's tacky to use paper plates...my experience is that in the US everyone uses paper plates for every social occasion. When I first came here I was invited to Thanksgiving dinner at a colleague's parents $1million house. There were only about 15 guests, the food was great, beautifully presented, and they served it on paper plates....you wouldn't catch anyone's parents I know using paper plates for an equivalent occasion in the UK (although perfectly understandable when feeding 60).
