Serving soup in paper bowls - safe?

Read the links Johnny.
If we have 60 people and a band in the house the kitchen table will have to go outside. I don't have the room for your 'pot luck dinner'. I'm making soup. People like soup. Soup and bread. And alcohol

I wasn't suggesting you have a pot luck. I was pointing out that people could bring things to your house, without you having to drive around to fetch the things.

jesus wept woman, 60 people, you had so better hope it dosen't rain
:D

We got a bit carried away

Even if it doesn't rain it'll be fucking freezing. What they'll need is soup :D

That's ok cos I'm making soup and serving it in biodegradable cups :)

If you're still around you're welcome to come to the party :) They won't all come - funny buggers round these parts ;)

You, me and Kromskis at Woolfest? Are you sure?

the funny thing is, Johnny's (rude :p ) implication seems to be that it's tacky to use paper plates...my experience is that in the US everyone uses paper plates for every social occasion. When I first came here I was invited to Thanksgiving dinner at a colleague's parents $1million house. There were only about 15 guests, the food was great, beautifully presented, and they served it on paper plates....you wouldn't catch anyone's parents I know using paper plates for an equivalent occasion in the UK (although perfectly understandable when feeding 60).

Soup+bread+alcohol sounds like a good party to me. :)

I guess it depends who you're hanging out with.

Paper plates are for picnics or other outdoor events in the summer.

You certainly know how to live it up doncha?

Must dash - the clocks go forward this weekend and I still have the Winter curtains up. The shame of it.

this is not gonna be a formal sorta thing. know madzone, know the implications of 60 in her house. this is going to be about as informal as you get with clothes on.

so you gonna kick out the dog and stick the band in the fireplace?
The dog's going to my mums house - not too sure what to do with the band but there's only 3 of them. One plays the bagpipes though so it'll be a bit loud :D

Now who's sarky? Our clocks went ahead two weeks ago, but I'm not certain of the condition of the curtains.

And our wine is NEVER served in paper cups, btw.

Well the Johns Hopkins professor and his lovely wife (a therapist) in whose posh house I ate that dinner served in on paper plates. It wasn't a sit-down meal, more of a serve-yourself buffet, but still....seems like the norm here to me. :p

We don't bother with cups - just lie down under the wine box and someone opens the tap.
