Serrano Ham Leg

That looks fucking ace. Did it come with a frame?
It does come with a stand/frame which will be put together in a bit.

Am unaccustomed to shopping in sales let alone Twat Friday so decided to get up to Lidl for opening time to ensure #operationgettheham was a success :D There was a queue of about 40 people outside 10 minutes before the place opened  but it turned out almost all of them were collecting pre-ordered tellyboxs. The pallet of hams (see pic above) was virtually untouched when I left so was a bit pointless being there so early  did get talking to an old fella (at the port and brandy shelf) who decided to buy one after seeing mine.

Last year I got a 2kg ham from M&S reduced (before Winterval) from £40 to £20 which worked out fine and the ham was decent. This one from Lidl was advertised on their website as £29.99 for 7kg but once I got home and checked the weight it turns out this one is 6.5kg  but hardly the end of the world.

The stand/frame feels much better quality than the M&S stand was but sadly the Lidl ham did not come with a knife. I kept the M&S knife from last year but again that was not the best/sharpest. Will get the steel on it later before carving and report back.

Wow. The thought of Lidl bargains are motivating me out of sick bed and onto middle of lidl.
I do like Lidl. The old bloke I was chatting to who got himself a ham told me he does all his 3 daughters food shopping because he enjoys going there so much :D

Got quite a lot of Winterval stuffs with the ham. Jars of pickles, chutneys, biscuits as well as some essentials.

I don't think anyone can say that the quality of Lidl/Aldi products are in anyway inferior to Sainsbury/Tesco and I put them above Morrison/Asda. Also the two local Lidl have wide aisles which makes the whole thing a lot better.

i've been before and been impressed with their range but sainsbury's is more convenient for me :o

I find that the quality of the fruit and veg way better than the others at sometimes half the price.

Im getting one from Lidl later.

Impressed it comes with a jamonero (frame).

I have a proper knife. Be very very careful cutting jamón you can really fuck yourself up if the knife slips. They wear chain mail gloves to do it professionally in Spain.

The frame is not 'professional' but adequate.

As for the knife you are right to warn people. Isn't this the cause of a LOT of hospital visits in Spain? I am fairly good with a knife after butchery and chef experience but always slice away from the body when carving.

marty21 never buys only one ham

One does not simply walk into Lidl and buy only one ham :ffs:
