Series 2 of the Wire

Yeah, I think s4 is by far the funniest. Some excellent writing for that one. It's definitely my favourite season.

I think after s2 things do become less coherent. 1 and 2 had definite story arcs, and were almost self-contained. 3 was where it became looser, trying to draw a lot of things together. 4 even more so, although it had a good arc too, imo. Season 5 so far is the most chaotic, which is perhaps why it is garnering some of the criticism.

AHHHHHH EDIT EDIT EDIT THAT. SPOILER. Remember this thread is by someone who hasn't seen all of Series 2 yet.

It's never been on terrestial tv has it. I suppose this is how viral stuff/word of mouth works on the Internet - The Wire is the Ron Paul of entertainment . . .

Of course, only the beginning was 5 years ago, it still hasn't finished 'airing' in the USA.

I found S3 quite bleak and chaotic, but not in a way that said 'less quality' - it's more to do with the chaos everyone finds themselves in, after being so set up and running things in S1.

And yet the one were McNulty is the most sorted.

Yeah S2 is the second best season of any programme ever (after Wire S4 of course).

Yeah I go along with that.

I think Urban Wireheads need to commission some bespoke T shirts with these numbers on (or whatever is your order of preference).
Whitey sale! I'll take one.

I have a wire Tshirt design all ready - I just need to buy a plain Tshirt to transfer it onto :)

series 2 is the weakest of the first three. it takes four episodes to get going, ziggy is an annoying twat and some of the stevedore acting is slightly sub par. I didn't really buy 'the Greek' either , it was all a bit kyser soze,
that said the ending rules and all the background on the barksdale crew is vital.
still it shits on almost everything else, i don't even really like the sopranos anymore

that's my one criticism of the wire - it makes all other TV less enjoyable, because it's not as good :(:)

I know, they did get it wrong but I still like it. Actally that's the back of the shirt - the front has this on it:

Apparently, it's more of a Baltimore thing, found on bumber stickers and stuff

I showed the first ep to my three stellas and a spliff sodden mate the other day. Before the snot boogey segment had finished he waved it away, before the geez had even said 'we hadda let im play, this america man'
Then the cunt hears Charlie brookers eulogising domewhere and begs at my feet like an acolyte for the 5 and a bit quality eps that I have. Like the god that I am I am dispensing them a series at a time.

Yep, except without the question mark. Plenty of people who live here think it's as stupid as fuck. It's going to take a lot more than just Believe to fix the problems that Baltimore has.

The city has burned through a few slogans and catchphrases in the time i've been here. When i arrived, it called itself The City That Reads, in an attempt to emphasize the importance of education. Of course, when branches of the public library started getting shut down or placed on reduced hours due to budget issues, that slogan had to go.

Then we got another slogan that you still see on some of the bus-stop seats around the city.

:)

And then we got Believe.

Series One was okay - okay enough to make me buy series 2. I've got three episodes to go in series two... and I have had three episodes to go for the last two weeks... not very impressed really... very slow burner... I suppose it's okay... not as good as the Shield though...

I see your take on television is just as shit as your politics.

The Shield is utter fucking moronic shit compared to The Wire.
