September photography thread

Right, so the first is converted RAW, and the second is jpg from the camera?

The RAW one, was it in Adobe RGB 1998 colourspace when you were editing? Was it 16bit? IMO that's the best way to edit them. Then you need to convert to 8bit and to sRGB before saving and uploading. Did you do that?

Hmm not sure what to do to this, it looks a bit dark now I've uploaded it to FlickR :hmm:

In fact it looks flat and horrible and it looked nice in photoshop!

Velvia it... ;)

On a more serious note, have you tried correcting the vignetting in your raw processor? try using photoshop itself for processing your raws and then using the vignetting correction to take the darkness out of the corners..

Either that or up the levels a bit, I got it a lot lighter in PS (your jpg here) with the levels altered..

I actually liked it because of the vignetting! :D

Looks good though, what plug in did you use for the velvia? :)

It's a 3200 ISO shot with noise reduction applied in Photoshop, converted into B&W in photoshop and a Fuji Neopan 1600 filter applied
The background was then isolated and darkened with levels to improve overall contrast..

Exposure: 0.005 sec (1/200)
Aperture: f/2.2
Focal Length: 50 mm
ISO Speed: 3200

On which camera? Qaulity looks fantastic at 3200 on digital.

On my EOS 40D, i'm also 99% certain that it was taken with my 50mm f/1.8 bit of plastic.. (can't tell off the exif data I have access to this now though..)

Quite possibly. I got some surprisingly good results with my 50mm f/1.8 before I traded up to a f/1.4. (if you can avoid the halation which mostly seemed to creep in below f/2.0 in bright conditions).

This one of my father from last year, for example. Plastic fifty, f/2.8, 1/80 sec @ ISO 800 on a 5D.

We was chasing a Deltic Train Yesterday, as ever with this there is some spare time so we had a quick look around here, we are going back to this place as it is vast it seems from our first look around it was a heavy casting plant and probably for Arther Less.

As always demographics change and it latter become known as Extec House (Extec Screens & Crushers Ltd.) we know they was taken over around 2004 and Merlin Estates Sheffield (we are told on the verge of bankruptcy) are now the owners, despite rumors of security and scrapers there was none, as said this is a vast location, a torch good footwear and more than yourself would be good.

There was three of us with walke talkies so we split and kept talking to each other over them (we had them for the deltic) here are the images, ill do some more looking into and as always a pm for how to.. Following last weeks Stanley Royd Asylum Chapel - Church of St Faiths and the shit this was a nice return back to what we know..

The Rest of The Images.

A big up to Monkey Boy for this one::hmm:

Neat...

Yeah, it's surprised me as a lens a few times and it's one that I recommend to anyone starting with a Canon DSLR since it can give good results for very little cost and its interesting to learn what to do with one fixed focal length.

Anyhoo.. it's back to colour for me:

Images of my self in a padded cell see the full report Thanks to www.highroydshospital.co.uk/ for making this happen, for introducing us to former inmates, and staff for your hospitality information and now i find myself involved in the fight to keep alive the ghost of this place it was epic and it angered me deeply (as you will see from the coming film) and for good reasons there are images not yet published, as we all desire to leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but images.
