"Sell" me photoshop (nightmare for novice)

I have Photoshop CS3 and I like the new GUI but I find myself going back to CS1 time and time again, just prefer it. Not too bloated or bulky, runs faster and does exactly what I want.

Fuck, is that still there? I'd forgotten all about that little turd.

<goes & checks>......

Aw, bless :D

It must be important - It's even got its own default keyboard shortcut :D

Doesn't it just stretch the histogram out where it doesn't fill the width?

I miss CS2 - too slow on these Intels, but I don't need any of that guff in CS3 and why can't I put my pallets into the dock anymore?

It's not that bad - good for quick and dirty scan correction, 8 times out of 10 it'll remove the cast. Though I'd use an automated action probably.

The biggest annoyance for me is that the history tab is a pain in the arse, it sort of slides out

Exactly the same wind-up for me - used to have it at the top of the screen on a tab. Simple, didn't need fixing, Adobe fuckers.

That's what it looks like, but it's really doing the equivalent of you going into every colour channel and moving the blackpoint and whitepoint sliders to the first bit of actual colour, increasing the constrast in the channel, eg:

The new channel mixer thing in PS CS3 is the dog's for B&W conversion.

Why oh why do people shoot in B&W mode on their cameras is beyond me.

I still really like photoshop for slicing up designs and even making leaflets and flyers, then import them into indesign... mmm i love you adobe.

The smart select thingy on it is bloody good!!! Creating masks is now even easier.
