My beautiful Ellie... :D :D

She is so adorable - a collie/springer cross who absolutely adores water.
I take her walkies over near a managed fishery place...

Aaah! They're gorgeous. I wish I could have two dogs. My dog Myrtle is a spoilt only child and would sulk for the rest of her life if I got another one. Lived with another dog last year and I've never seen her so unhappy.

Yeah it is. A good pedigree Bernese will set you back that kind of money. Its important to get a good one because the suffer from ankle, hip and back probs. bad breeding means you can get a dog that a) will cost you thousands in vet bills b) unfair, short life for the dog :(

I would add they are worth every single penny.

My parents have a shitzhu (bad spelling) and sam suffers from a dodgy back leg and he is only 4, so we just give him cod liver oil in his brekkie. Also its kinda scary when he runs about because you can hear his heart banging against his ribs like a tin drum which is  i dont think sam is gonna make that much of an old dog either. :(

How long is the Bernese life span?? Well i am tempted to give you £20 towards your new doggie just so i can have a cuddle :D

see they look lovely cos they aren't real

cats any day

Photo thinks that getting one really big one will be good value :D
whereas i judge it by the 'jumping on the bed in the morning' test

size isn't everything though kea

the temperament of the breed and that particular dog is imporatat as well. big dogs are often less frantic than little ones. terriers are like terminators. they absolutely will not stop until they've licked your face ( just make sure you're not yawning at the time). Big dogs may not be quite so determined

this is josh. he's pretty old for a whippet and doesn't do much these days except sleep, bless him. he's my boy really, i was about 12 when we got him so we share a bond! it is my belief that every growing boy should have a dog by his side! he's a bit of a grump really.

this is sim. he's about 7 and is just starting to go grey around the muzzle. sim is an unstoppable whippet attack force, thick as day-old gravy and with a heart so full of love i'm surprised he hasn't exploded yet.

Yeah, very similar. Not the same though and a small greyhound can be about the same size as a large whippet.

Both lovely pooches though.

Thanks doggy i knew you would know. All my photos of my dogs are really old i would have to scan them in and then find someone who can post pictures up to show you sam, but he is a cutie and he is feisty for a shitszhu too which makes him super special.

When we went to see him in the shop, the bloke let him out of his cage and instead of coming to look at us he decided to "kill" a broom 15 times his own size instead.. we knew he was for us :D

I'm in love with all your doggies!

I want a dog more than anything in the world but being out at work all day it just wouldn't be fair.....

Will have to content myself with gazing jealously at all your pics.

That bit about your dog's heart being full of love has made me cry! My wuffa is the most loving dog I've ever had/met too. It's unbelievable when people say that we can't prove that animals feel emotion when they so obviously do. My dog is like a three year old child (Border collies are supposed to have a similar level of intelligence, according to the BC handbook). She manipulates me by giving and taking away affection and if she's annoyed, she'll go into a huff and ignore me for up to two days. During this sending me to Coventry phase, she gives my boyfriend much more love and affection than usual and actually looks to see if I'm looking while she's doing it! It makes me laugh so much.

She's a wonder dog. They all are. This is my favourite thread.
