No, I am rıght. Fıfteen was about the average age at Mod gıgs as I recall.

Anyway, ıt started ın 1979.
Wrong as usual on all counts. The Mod revival started in 1978 and venues (like the Bridgehouse) certainly weren't full of 15 year olds.

It's clear that you really are either exceptionally thick and ignorant when it comes to music or hell bent on disrupting these threads with your hopelessly transparent trolling, but kindly stop else you'll be looking at a ban. Thanks.

Editor, to be in a "band" during the "Mod Revival" would mean you would, at the least, hav to be in your late 40's? You'v always appear mor juvenile than that, much mor. Most Lefties, nay, people in general, I know, hav grown up at least a bit, they had children, got married, life in general has made them grow-up, but you hav remain'd a permanent juvenile.
It's rather sad to see you reduced to posting up such a nasty and unprovoked personal attack. What a truly unpleasant person you've proved to be.

he Mod revival started in 1978

Sorry, not true.

Secret Affair's first single: 1979.

Purple Hearts fırst sıngle: 1979.

Merton Parkas fırst sıngle: 1979.

Mod revival generally held to have started with the ''Mod pilgrimage'' to see the Jam ın Parıs: 1979.

And so I am rıght. Agaın.

I could say exactly the same about you. You are a deeply unpleasant person, vain, childish, tantrum-throwing and an abuser of your power.;)

The mod revival was a music genre and subculture that started in the United Kingdom in 1978.

The Great British Music Festival, with the Jam, at Wembley in 1978 may have helped to kickstart the mod revival. The revival was also spurred on by small concerts at venues such as the Cambridge and Hop Poles Hotels, and Howard Hall Enfield, the Wellington, Waterloo Road, London, and the Bridge House in Canning Town.

Maybe you are right, I thought it was late Summer '78 just befor the Summer Holidays and the Special AKA "Gangsters" was the very first single. We had one mod in our school, Mickey Reece, by '79 half the white boys wer wearing Pakas and white socks and calling themselves, "Mods".

You're wrong as usual. The mod revival started in 1978.

He hardly embarassing himself, not remembering EXACTLY, after all these years when something as unimportant as the Mod Revival started.

I might be wrong, but I remember at school, there seemed to be two waves of mod revival in fairly quick succession. First, largely off the back of the Quadrophenia film ('79/80?) and Two Tone, then a second wave as The Jam ascended to their peak of popularity ('82?).

Bearing in mind that I'm talking about 13/14 year old kids at school, not grown ups going to gigs. I'm sure their mod revival was already in full swing, and it then probably took a little while to filter down to Smash Hits-reading kids.

The Specıals and theır fans called themselves ''Rude Boys.''

It was 1979 before anythıng lıke enough people were callıng themselves ''Mods'' to constıtute a ''revıval.''

From an artıcle that was actually wrıtten at the tıme:

''August 1979, just six months on from the happy hectic birth of New Mod as a bona fide movement and we’ve got a different animal on our hands.''

I have to say Ed, I thought thıs was a bıt weırd:
I'm finding your constant trolling even weirder, to be honest. Why bother?

I mean, here you are trying to tell me that you know best about something that you clearly know nothing about. I was there. At the time.

I went to the gigs, played the venues, knew the fanzine writers, went to the mod parties, and hung out with the crowds. We were even on an album with all the major players on the scene. The mod revival didn't suddenly happen when the records got released; it had been building up - and was being written about - for a long time before. In 1978.
By the time "All mod cons" hit the shops, the return of the mods was already under way. As early as March, '78, SOUNDS had featured JAM fans from London and Essex who were reviving the whole mod way of life.

"They're as much into the complete 60s fashion as they are the band. The JAM fans are so keen to the mod style, they buy their suits from jumble sales..." the paper music said.

This is a rather weird thread now, phillip claiming to know everything, and yet showing himself to know very little. All mods are weak or all mods are hard... neither is true, but if phillip says otherwise it must be true..... It's as ridiculous as phillips other trolls.

/\/\/\/\ This. Dwyer's posts are well weird lately
Yep. He seems to be going off at some very weird tangents recently.

I'll tell you what's ''weırd.''

People gettıng genuınely angry over the ıssue of whether the Mod revıval started ın 1978 or 1979.

To me, that ıs weırd.

You Bastard, you fucking cunt, I told you it started in '78, how can you not know so an important thing like that? You total bastard!!!!!;):D:D:D:D

Actually I'd say that the Mod revıval dıdn't really start untıl 1980. August 1980.

At the earlıest.

You're the one cluelessly banging on and on about it and it's your posts being described as 'weird' by several posters.

At least I was involved in the mod revival, so have some sort of personal interest. What's your excuse?

Alrıght mate, you wın.

1978 ıt was. It was rash and foolısh (not to say weırd) of me to have suggested otherwıse. Sorry to cause offence.

Jaysus.

What's weird are your intermionable stereotypes and sweeping statements.... But then again that's your MO frankly, so not so much weird as unsurprising.

78 actually.

The film of Quadrophenia had a massive effect on the mod revival, remember that's when it took hold nationally and suddenly little kids all started wearing parkas. Although Phil Daniels has said it was actually a film set in the 60's but all the cast were punks, so gives it that energy. I worked with Mark Wingett (who played his best mate who ends up with Leslie Ash) a few years ago when he was in The Bill. Top bloke, told me great stories about getting mashed with Joe Strummer at Notting Hill Carnival in the late 70's.
