Season tickets

Not how you can make a season ticket different to other clubs but always open to ideas. Its been said before that what makes this club different is its fans, old and new, and things they do. That must not change and as far as I am concerned will not change.

The season ticket was different and it's just completely changed, from a quaint DIY job that everyone seemed to like to a garish, advert-plastered thing.

All I can say is...good grief, it's a fucking season ticket!
You know how some things matter to you? And maybe others don't understand why? Well, I used to be proud of the old season ticket. In fact there was some discussion about it here before and people were saying they loved it as it was and wanted it left alone. It was different. Very 'Hamlet.'

And then suddenly it completely changes without warning and now has a fucking great advert on the back. Forgive me for caring about these things.

Well just put a sticker over the bit you don't like.

Personally, although I didn't have anything to do with the design of the new season ticket, I thought the old one had a totally amateurish look, and was an embarrassment to the club.

Bottom line is, in my humble opinion, it that it is just a bloody season ticket...

And, as an aside, why should there be a 'warning' if it changes...

The sponsorship by an estate agent has alienated several people. It has been exacerbated by giving season tickets away to home owners and them seemingly sponsoring everything from our shirts to our tweets to our physical season tickets.

Its possible Liam would have made a different decision if he had been directed differently or even in retrospect.

However, if anyone does not think its an issue to upset a part of the support then it seems a bit reckless.

Not a 'warning' but perhaps a discussion of some kind might have marked us out as the kind of club that wants to listen to its very loyal supporters before plastering adverts over things that some fans - like myself - hold rather dear to their hearts.

I used to show potential new supporters the old ticket as a way of showing that we were different to the big corporate football clubs. I won't be doing that now.

And by directed different I mean instructed by the owners. Weirdly if I spoke to Matt about it ilhe might be more receptive than some others.

Liam is always very receptive.

I still think we DO try to be different from 'the big corporate clubs'. In many ways. And hopefully will continue to do so. I think we have to agree to disagree. I simply cannot understand the fuss over a season ticket.

The owners did not arrange the main sponsorship package, nor did they influence it, as far as I know. All they did was ratify it once Liam had negotiated it.
(Am happy to stand corrected on that)

It's the little things that matter, Mishi. The little personal touches that remind the fans that it's their club and not just an advertising portal.

I paid a fair bit of cash for my ticket and I fucking hate how the thing looks. The quicker I get a sticker over it the better.

Liam was asked to maximise the amount of money. They offered the most.

Perhaps he would not have agreed to everything we gave them in retropect. He doesnt owe me a reply on that.

But if people arent taking it on board now then things will get really messy. Its entirely possible a number of fans will simply ignore what they are told if they arent listened to.

The sponsorship deal has been covered pretty much in depth on another forum with Liam responding. As for the season ticket design this was to give in a more recognisable and individual look, unfortunately with the growth in crowds and exposure that the club has had in recent season its difficult to be a quaint DIY club any more. There are a lot of things we need to do on a less "amateurish" basis, be it social media, matchday ticketing, stewarding, the bar but without losing what drew people to Dulwich Hamlet in the first place. Its a very difficult juggling act particularly as we're not always in control of our own destiny. Hopefully that will change in coming years with the new stadium and supporter ownership but fans need to bear with our club as we move forwards.

Nobody's saying the Club aren't listening...I believe the club have always listened to the fans.

Some weren't happy with the wording on the original sponsorship deal post...it was changed, for example.

And you say 'some fans will ignore what they are told'....give some examples, instead of quasi-threats & I could, perhaps respond.

That's sponsorship for you, would be wonderful if a football club could be run without it but its a core part of revenue generation.
How much does the club make from having the adverts on the back when set against the extra cost of producing these full colour spam-o-cards?

Its hardly a quasi threat. If there a breakdown in relationship between some fans and the football club then they could ignore all sorts of requests from the football club. But certainly if thr club still cant get it right on selling alcohol then people will smugge more in.

All part of the deal with KFH, cost of producing cards is pretty minimal. A case of producing something durable. The aim is to work with local businesses like Flock and Herd supporting the club through sponsorship & advertising to offer discounts to fans. Enables those business to better gauge how well that their advertising is working.

I woukd have though that sponsorship of the shirt did not cover everything or at least it shouldnt in the future.
Sponsorships are negotiated on an individual basis it might not just be the shirts in the case of a club sponsor which is the case with KFH.

The simple fact if people are unhappy with something the club have done join the trust
And how will that work when we are supporter-owned?

Further, won't that compromise the member of the trust Board who also sits on the Football Committee?

And further, by joining the Trust how would that help this not to happen again? (I'm not saying it will...each individual deal on sponsorship, no matter how large or small, is judged on its own merits, so to speak)
