also i'm suspicious of these new "old" blues singers, i've been in to blues since age 12 and i'd never hear of these wackily-named dudes till a couple of years ago, reckon they might not be all they seem. like give an old guy a guitar, teach him 1 chord and watch everyone flock to watch the "authenticity"... like, the kind of blues their playing, to be authentic they would need to be about 110 really.

sorry, but that's nonsense.. his biog and history is well known, and i'd heard of him a LONG time ago when he was still producing Sub Pop bands..

Producing bands for Sub Pop doesn't sound very authentic to me. i call it IMITATION BLUES!

Without taking anything from his prformance/personality. You may have a point there. I got the impression he was a bit younger than his act suggested.

well he is being marketed as a lifetime bluesman when he isn't, i'm not knocking his music, just pointing out the false marketing. if you buy into authenticity, then maybe it is important, noone likes being fooled. but probably it is stupid to buy into authenticity.

Anyway, check him out and decide for yourself. If you have already, then I hope you enjoyed his act as much as me. Marketing be-damned - in person he's very sincere.
