Sean Lock - RIP

I remember seeing him a few times at The Greyhound in Sydenham and in Up The Creek. Alan Davies and Sean Hughes were often on the bill , maybe late 80's early 90's. It was a good time for local stand up anyway, but he stood out even then, so quick. Sad news.

I'm saddened by Sean Lock's death, but being reminded of my early 80's local is always cheering.
Even back then i was a brown beer snob, but my flat-mate persuaded me of the merits of Lowenbrau (in quantity).
Before the comedy time, mind you.

I genuinely thought this was a wind-up when word got round at work :( I've been a fan of Sean Lock since I first heard him on the Mark'n'Lard show back in '94 or so; one of those utterly innate comedians who could always wrangle fun from every conceivable source in a uniquely dry fashion; a tragic loss for British comedy. RIP Sean.

yeah so quick...I think only Lee Mack a tenth of a second faster. I didn't really like his stand up show, i think he's one of those rare comedians who was funniest just being himself rather than with pre-planned material - a total natural.

I just now saw the thread on Reddit, came here to confirm. Like many others I did not even know that he was ill. Terrible news, I've not seen his stand-up but his presence on the panel shows was never a dull one. Too young and fuck cancer.

Yeah, I never really watched his panel shows, but had been thinking about rewatching 15 Stories High one of these days, might prioritise that now. That episode where one of them accidentally gets stoned in a lift has stuck with me for years, for some reason.

Heard about Sean's passing this morning. It's very, very sad as he was very, very funny and, one of the good guys.

Saw him in Lancaster a few years back at the Aston Hall which has a huge 25ft tall concert pipe organ at the back of the stage.
He walked on to applause and said through gritted teeth "I'm really fucking annoyed with this...I ordered a drum kit."

RIP and fuck cancer

I'm feeling this all the more today as I'm off to have some odd lesions checked out tomorrow morning 😟
