Seafood: Your suggestions

Did Crayfish used to be called something else?

I heard they'd changed a lot of names to make them sound more appealing.

Like the black pungent rock lurker to Earl of Turquoise. I made that one up as I'm struggling to find information on google.

rock/huss used to be dogfish iirc`

When you source some, start a recipe thread....I have some good 'uns. However, D started a thread where because of her high consumption of seafood she was ill and it was because of contamination of seafood

To be honest, the secret of a healthy diet is a varied diet.

I'm a very samey samey person though. Like at the moment I'm eating poached eggs on wholemeal toast with tomatoes for breakfast. And I have it every day because I hate messing around picking and choosing stuff. My only other option in the work canteen is cereal or fried stuff which I try to avoid.

Come and do some minor fiddling with two light sockets and I'll cook you a seafood feast mate....scallops in bacon for starters...YUM!

*Offers to fiddle with any switch Mrs Magpie might care to mention if it involves a seafood feast*

If you need any electrical work doing in exchange for seafood then it's a deal.

Then if you sue me for you getting an electric shock I'll counter sue for you giving me mercury poisoning. ;) :D

He's an electrician though...what guarantees have I got with you fiddling with my knobs, eh?

I've done some of my own electrics! I even put a light fitting on my living room ceiling.

Which reminds me: citizen, I'll let you fiddle with my knobs if you come and sort out the light fitting on my living room ceiling.

I had some amazing seafood at Taz in Borough today - go Turkish seafood! I didn't really expect it to be any good for some reason

I do like the fellas (and lass) in Mash on Atlantic Road, I have to say (if you're cooking in not eating out) - they're great with advice on cooking and use and stuff

Where would one buy live lobsters in London apart from Billingsgate?

The British seem a bit crap when it comes to seafood. :hmm:

Bits of it are good, London just suffers from big city syndrome... Mind you I think it's actually getting worse, in Aldeburgh (near where I am this weekend) they still have fishermen's huts on the beach, but I suspect this is because that part of Suffolk has a lot of wealthy second home types visiting. On the other hand Devon was shocking for its lack of decent fish, but the nature of the coast there might explain that somewhat (it's all very well being near the sea, but several hundred feet of cliff face can get in the way). Our shellfish industry is traditionally up with the best, but pollution and overfishing have dented that sector.
