Do you remember Goram getting caught with that wifey in the caravan, wearing her stockings? It was during his Motherwell/Red Hand Commando phase. Lmao. :D

GRETNA and Motherwell are leading the chase to take Hearts striker Calum Elliot on loan this season.

The 20-year-old forward is understood to have been targeted by both Premier League clubs as he seeks to end his Tynecastle frustration by securing regular first-team football elsewhere.

DEAN McDonald scored a debut goal as Caley Thistle made an impressive start to their Italian tour, beating Qatar Under-21s 2-0 in Umbria.

The Highlanders dominated against a very decent young Qatari side, with McDonald settling the game late on after Ross Tokely's opener.

Celtic 2 McDonald (19), O'Brien (53)

JIM O'Brien's second-half strike earned Celtic victory over Peterborough last night as the SPL champions stepped up their preparations for the new season.

The midfielder's measured volley on 53 minutes was the difference between the sides after Aaron McLean had cancelled out Scott McDonald's opener.

Hail! Hail!

Kostadinov is very promising. Hearts have a whole team worth of promising players under 20 (although Gretna can have Elliot imo) - not sure how much good that's going to do us this season though.

Obviously wanted to play at a glamour club;)
Seriously, his parents had the last word and it was the East European connection and the fact that he will get a better chance at first team football and thus a better deal when he moves when his contract is up.

Aye. Fair point. But galling if he's using the club as a jumping-off point to Chelski, Man U, Barca, Inter etc, etc. :(

If he attracts the money that these clubs can pay then I don't think any Jambos will really mind.
<prays for Kosta to be good enough for Barca one day>

But isn't your slightly bonkers Chairman/Fuhrer meant to be minted? Or is his wealth in Latvian Zlotys or Estonian Roubles, or spare Lada parts or something? :D

It's no sectret that Mad Vlad is not quite as minted as first thought.
Anyway, Ukio Bankas owns Hearts, not Romanov:eek:

Always smelt something fishy about £6million Bumsong:D

that deal was rotten from the off

i remember when rangers signed him on a free they issued a statement (then quickly retracted it) saying they were looking forward to making money from selling him on

at the same time newcastle had played auxerre and shearer went off on one after the match about how boumsong was one of the worst defenders he'd ever come across

then souness crops up and buys more rangers deadwood for millions

just as he's done many times before especially at blackburn

just to pump more money into murray holdings or whatever his dodgy company is called

its as corrupt as they come

Did you watch the Newcastle pre-season match? Both teams had a lot of players out, but I was gob-smacked when Celtic lost 4-1. Luque even scored twice against them, though Newcastle's sub goalie came on as a striker because they'd run out of academy kids in the 2nd half.

I'm not at all surprised that a mediocre EPl team can beat the back to back SPL champions....Anyway, Celtic are pure mince away from home.

Well done to Hearts yesterday btw.
Fate dealt me a bitter blow as I really, really, really had to go to wedding at 3....of all places within hearing distance of Murrayfield so I could hear but not join the 57000 (yes 57000!!) mostly Jambos for, by all accounts a pretty entertaining game. I didnt get to see it cos I accidentally set Sky+ to record Setanta1, not 2 (D'OH!) so it wasnt meant to be as far as I was concerned.......Bring on the Hibbees a week tomorrow!

Didn't get to see any of our pre-season action, but we're always pish then. More concerned about the injury to Boruc

It's a Grand Old Team...

I did a double take, as well. Of course, had we won, I'd be giving it the big one at work (I work in London)...

Motherwell? The Millwall of the SPL...no-one likes them (except for ex-Rangers men looking for a pay check).

Apologies for not posting links of late to stories which may interest fans of God's Own Fitbaw League - I've just started a new job and I had to get to grips with their net policy...there isn't one (!!)...so I'll start posting stories and articles again soon.

Good luck to all next weekend. Except Rangers. :D

Rangers bump and grind out victory
STEPHEN HALLIDAY
AT IBROX
WALTER Smith last night declared himself satisfied with Rangers' nervy 2-0 first-leg win over Zeta Golubovci in the second qualifying round of the Champions League as he strives to avoid the fate which befell Celtic manager Gordon Strachan two years ago.

The Ibrox club required two extremely fortunate and bizarre goals from David Weir and Lee McCulloch, both the result of blunders by Zeta goalkeeper Sasa Ivanovic, to forge a lead to take into the second leg in the Montenegrin capital Podgorica next Tuesday night.

Celtic captaincy is recognition of McManus's triumph over adversity
GLENN GIBBONS
([email protected])
IF A talent for seizing the day is a prerequisite for an aspiring team captain, Stephen McManus seems to be properly equipped to justify the promotion he received yesterday.

Just two years after Celtic's blackest night in Europe, and the young centre-half's own uncertainty over his future at the club, McManus has emerged Gordon Strachan's aide-de-camp. The manager's powerful endorsement of his ability and of his character underlined the rapidity with which he has shrugged off potentially devastating adversity and established himself as a first pick for his club and a member of the Scotland squad.
