Scott Walker

Well I've downloaded:

In the Beginning

Scott 1

Scott 2

Scott 3

Scott 4

and Tilt

That should keep me going for a while.

It certainly will. :)

You got the cover photos? Especially 3 and 4. They're part of the experience.

The music on Scott 1 - 4 is some of the most hauntingly beautiful and I never tire of it. Certain tracks are so bombastic, so preposterously over the top that no one else could get away with it. But I love the slow melancholy ones particularly on Scott 3.
The mood he loves to evoke of ordinary people in ordinary streets and rooms is also wonderful on some Walker Bros stuff like 'Mrs Murphy' and 'In my Room'.
To be at start of a journey through those 4 albums is an enviable position to be in

He is ace. Marc Almond and my mates dad made me aware of his work, his and Jacques Brel.

I listened to The Drift today. I despise it. What the fuck is he doing, a ghost impression?

I was riding my bike at the time and must have got through a fair few minutes of his horrible wailings before I actually tuned in and the full frustrating, anarchic, inexplicable horror of what I was listening to kicked in. I nearly crashed the damn thing into a tree just to put an end to his stupid noise.

:D:D My daughter agrees with you. I love it, though.

lol. it often gets that kinda reaction :)

I watched the 30th Century Man doc about him recently, damned fine it is. great to see his recording process for the last album. The magnificent oddball.

I don't like you anymore
Nite Flites is a good song, and The Electrician is heartbreaking - only just 'discovered' him mind, so don't listen to me.
I like Make It Easy On Yourself and The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore from his Walker Bros stuff.

Well, what about the non-Radio 2 stuff on the same albums, Archangel, I Don't Wanna Hear it Anymore, Young Man Cried and In My Room?
