'Scott Walker: 30th Century Man'

Dubversion said:
what fantastic TV that was.

It was, wasn't it? :)
I got quite annoyed a few times during it, but that was more to do with remembering just how much Walker Brothers/Scott Walker vinyl I lost when my record collection was nicked back when I lived on Clapham Park in the late eighties.. :(

I thought the look on that aged transexual's face when she heard the orchestral arrangements she'd done (as a man) on "Scott 4" was wonderful, almost awe that she'd done something that sounded so marvellous.

Excellent!

Fantastic to see him do Mathilde live (and the snippet of JB himself!) - and to hear a lot of the freaky stuff  My mate, who's a fanatic, has been sending me albums one at a time, so she doesn't fuck up my reality too much with an overload of Scott sorcery :D

Where's that melody coming from? NO MELODY!! :D  :D

(oo, and exec producer was David Bowie!)

I had to invade my neighbour’s living room to watch (most of) it.

Simple, chronological progression through his professional life; the balance between interviews with the man himself, with rock and pop types and occasional footage and voiceover worked well for me - the ‘drink problem’ got passing mentions but I was very relieved the piece concentrated on his professional life rather than all the usual rock star clinic/arrested/kids/divorce, etc, etc.

I did though wonder whether the absence of the other Walkers was an artistic decision or something else . . .

Thanks for flagging this up, hugely enjoyable and made me interested in the additional content of the cinema version.

I caught the last bit of this programme and I was entralled by it. He seems like a no-compromise guy who has given everything to his music, admirable.

Went to see the full length version of this at the cinema last night - brilliant. Made me realise there's so much of Scott/the Walker Brothers material I still don't know. I feel a trip to the record shop coming on!
