Scott Pilgrim

oh... didn't see this

ok two volumes in and... it's alright

unfurtunatly it's of a scene that i don't quite resonate with so i don't really conect with a lot of the charactors

so far my favorite character is wallace... so far a lot of the side characters feel peripheral ...

2 down 3 to go

yeah basically what i said there

maybe it is actually a good representation of what some of these "freindships" are like it's just people you sorta know and go to the same places with... frankly you barly know these people... because frankly barly any side characters left any impressions on me.. they are practically scenery

Just seen this, very funny on lots of different levels. Well done to the film for being fast-paced and not slowing down an explaining everything for a wider audience; will be re-watching a few times I reckon. Reminds me how horribly complicated it was being in my early twenties (shudders).

Its a shame scott is a bit of a shit to knives, makes him a bit unlikeable even when he is played by one of the most likeable actors. A bit of take it or leave it fun that I wont be 'taking' again. No story but I am not sure I expected one. I did expect a bit more sillyness and reason - everything just happens, but while I dont expect a massive back story it would be nice to have something a little filled out and better written. Instead we have
I am a terrible with the girls
Oh but I do have a sexy girlfriend
Oh now I fancy that other girl a lot and obsessivly straight away
Shes hard to get damn it
Oh but she goes out with me straight away
We do it
She has 7 exes that for no real reason are now going to fight me.
We all fight, and I win every time
I say sorry for being a douche to kinves, which somehow is so big of me it makes it ok.

Oh, and I am in a shit band.

the books managed to do the character development thing a bit better but i fairly much agree with you scott is a bit of a dick but i suppose that is the real story it's him realising his dickness and maybe trying to change

Everything just happening all the time for no reason. Sounds like real life to me.

I work to make money
I eat because I am hungry.
I have a back story that is fleshed out and goes back for every genoration until the begining of time.

"Coming this Summer! One man's quest to address his dickness..." :D

You don't have a feeling that life is just a series of events over which you have litte or no control? Well when I was 22 it felt a lot luike that, in any case.

They came out fairly close together and shared a certain style/irreverence.

Indeed, they flow from the same sub culture, are both well known comics too. Point of fact all the same people I know who liked KA liked SP and raved about it in the same way...

They both seem to be film-comic symbiotes rather than based on a comic book, as in the past. Kick Ass the film was apparently started on before the first issue came out in print, and Scott Pilgrim the film was started as soon as the first issue of the comic came out.

I know kick arse the comic book had not been finished before they started on the film, but I am fairly sure I have seen scott pilgrim around for several years. Cant be bothered to check the facts on that right now though.
