Scotlands Commonwealth Games opening 'costume'.

Here's a picture of some of the volunteers, outside Kelvinhall arena:

The mascot creeps me out a little...

Is it me or have all the uniform/outfit designers picked colours that you'd never normally associate with Scotland?

I think the colours are supposed to reflect Scottish summer scenery. I get the 'coral' for the heather a wee bit, but I've never looked up the glen and seen anything as garrish as that.

On Scotland Tonight now.
Heather is normally shades of purple though, from light to dark. No purple in that tartan. What is the tan colour supposed to represent, the cowpats from hielan' coos?

Uniform slammed as 'horrific'

Even on Team Scotland's own Facebook page, it was described as "humiliating", "truly horrific" and "embarrassing".

One person posted: "I can sense a record haul of medals for Scotland. All the other nations will be throwing up for days after seeing this outfit."

The uniform received a positive reception from more than 400 athletes and officials who were gathered for their final team camp ahead of the Games, but derision elsewhere.

The outfit was designed by textile designer Jilli Blackwood, and combines a turquoise, fuchsia, navy blue and caramel tartan with a blue shirt for the men, and a flowing wrap-around dress for women.

longdog Is that not worse than the GTHS uniform?? :D

Dayglo turquoise was never your colour :D

There's a new school opened up the road from me (part of Hull City Council's continuing campaign to merge large failing schools in to enormous failing schools) that has a blazer very much the same shade of migraine-inducing blue as the tech's skirts. It makes you wonder who could possibly have ever thought it was a good idea doesn't it? :D
