Scotland and Walter Smith

I'm a Celtic supporter and a Scotland supporter. I like Runrig.

Hey, Rangers! Leave that man alone.

For the first time since Saint Jock of Stein (RIP, Big Yin) we have a manager who is making things happen. It needs the SFA to tell Murray to go fuck himself.

I'd say the same thing if it was the Celts putting in for Mr Smith.

Scotland fans run england fans pretty fucking close in the 'biggest set of twats to follow a team anywhere in the world' competition true, and the SFA are cunts to a man, but to hate the team unfortunately would be to hate half the team i support... its a minefield and no mistake.

I can see you maybe having some disgreement with the "jimmy hats" brigade, but to label an entire group of supporters as "cunts" is somewhat sad................

Walter Smith: Man of integrity:

3 December 2006, Smith backs Hibs in contract row
Scotland manager Walter Smith has urged Scott Brown and Kevin Thomson to show more responsibility in their contract dispute with Hibernian.

10 January 2007, Smith appointed boss of Rangers
The Scottish Football Association will now take legal action against him "for breach of contract" and against Rangers "for inducement to break the contract".

I was just going to post the same thing myself Chorlton. Smith is a hypocrite and, lets face it, not a very good manager. Rangers are welcome to Smith and that joker McCoist. He may know how to make Sue Barker cream her knickers but he knows SFA about management.

And I know we have had our differences Chorlton but I have to partly agree with you re Sectarianism. Celtic have a section of bigoted fans who chant support for the Nazi Pope, IRA child killers and kiddy fiddling priests but the Orcs that are Rangers fans, on the whole, and the institutional bigotry of the club ARE much worse. As a Hearts fan (and a pagan atheist who is glad not to live in a Catholic country) I am happy to support Celtic in Europe but i could never support the Hun.

But, like most Celtic fans you probably (like wee Aiden) are not sure whether to support Eire or Scotland. Just like how Rangers fans consider themselves British first and Scottish second, most Celtic fans are Oirish (about as Irish as a themed pub on St Paddy's day that is) first and Scottish second.

Now Hearts.....we are the true team of Scotland. Not Irish, not British, but Scottish (and before Elvis was shamefully sacked, we had more players in the Scotland first XI than Celtic)

having said that, I havent got much enthusiasm for the national team. Maybe I spent too long living in London but I'd rather watch Hearts or Arsenal than Scotland anyday. You'll find most of the Tartan Army are supporters of wee clubs like Brechin, Stenhousemuir and Hibs as this is the only chance they get to watch quality (sic) football.

Roll on Saturday. Lets make it 3 in a row at Tynecastle;)

As I said, it fuckin galls me that hes walking out -irrespective of my views on him as a manger anyway - loyalty isnt what it used to be. Though the SFA have dug in their heels ( ish :( ) the influence of the OF - especially Rangers/Murray - is unbelievable.

Hopefully we will find that the relative success weve shown of late is due to the players in the National squad and not just Smith.

Italy/France/Ukriane et al will be pissing themselves at this farce

I've seen many a match at parkhead and I've yet to hear those particular chants. How do they go?

Fuckers. Smith was great for us. Fucking old firm.

Leaving aside all issues of sectarianism (because i'm fucking fed up of it on here), what exactly does Walter Smith going back to that mob have to do with Celtic?

fair play to mcleish mind
every team he's taken on has had initial success

...

but the total implosion that he causes just before the club HAVE to sack him surely must raise an eyebrow with someone at the SFA no?
