(guns and roses + motley crue were both indeed rock and roll attempting-and-failing pansies for the record.)

Gawd bless you and your understanding of rocks nature and message.

I like both depending on the mood but generally prefer a strong speyside single.

I also put ice in single malt, as do all true officiandos*

*putting a little cold water in is also acceptable.

Balls :)

Try asking for ice in your malt in scotland, see how far you get. What is the point of having a drink with such a depth of flavour, then chilling that flavour away?

A drop or two of water is OK, that can often open up the flavour, especially with cask strength stuff.

To be fair, you could probably get a malt deep fried in Scotland if you tried hard enough...

You don't fill the glass with ice. Just a cube or two. The chilling doesn't affect the depth of flavour - merely allows it to unfold slowly on the palate.

I was introduced to the idea of adding ice to a single malt in an hotel in Scotland which had an entire bar dedicated to malt whisky :p

My brother always, pushes aside the cheap sainsburys white rum and digs out the 12 year reserve rum to add to his coke  :D

Still too much water being added for my taste...

hmmm, think this requires a poll :p

You can go ahead and rely on the rabble for your decisions - some of us are our own men :p

IMO the best way is just to swill out the glass with some soft water then tip it out fairly quickly. The remaining water on the sides/bottom of the glass is quite enough.
