Scolari withdraws interest in England job

Isn't funny how David "conflict of interest" Dein has suggested Wenger. Best man for the job now they've annyoed Hiddink and Scolari said no.

well I know that he was regularly slaughtered in the Portuguese press by Mourinho during Euro 2004, the two absolutely detest each other - partly because Scolari was reluctant to play some of the Porto european champions side.

He's never been to see Porto at home and has based himself very much in Lisbon and with the Lisbon clubs. This wins him very few friends in the north of the country

Partially correct, as Mourinho rarely commented on Scolari's choices, and when he did so it could be either perceived as a take on him or boosting players' confidence (such as saying he had Portugal's best two goalkeepers, when there was a lot of questioning if Ricardo would be in form enough when compared to Baía, who also worked closely with all defenders bar Miguel, who was second choice before the compo started). The worst stuff, however, was when the Pinochet-loving cunt said before replying a question in a press conference "So you're not from Porto (city)? Thank God." and lied constantly about having attended games in the Antas/Dragão and pretty much any stadium outside Lisbon. Being championed by everyone who was anti-Porto (basically, extended to being anti-Baía) also harmed his image around here, but that's not his fault.

I don't see his contribution to Portuguese football as brilliant as some claim. He "united everyone around the national team" my arse, Oliveira and Coelho did the same in 2002 and 2000 without the help of hosting the competitions and the fascizistic wet-dream of asking everyone to place flags on their windows. While he arrived at the final, he did so at the expense of having five of their starting players from the European Champion, and only changed from the post-2002 team after the first match. Not to mention he lost the final against a second-rank team, after failing to win two games against them before. Yeah, I guess taking notes is for pussies, really, and that strategy of holding to the second half was pure genious. Drawing at Liechenstein is also a high point of his tenure here.

Like I've said before, I'd rather have Coelho or Eriksson instead of him. And the sooner he goes, the better.
