Yet again Britain shows itself up with its shit management and over the top media.

We're number one at moaning though! :D

"Sco-lar-i, whoah-oh-oh-oh. Sco-lar-i, whoah-oh-oh-oh.
He won't be England's coach. Cos the media did encroach"

Well done the meedja!! Fucking pricks. Got one out and drove the other one away before he even started. Scum fucking sewer rat cunts.

Well done Big Phil. HaHa!

Bloody hell. Steve McLaren.

Whilst Hiddink goes to manage Russia!?

For some reason the FA chose to ignore Hiddink, surely the3 best avaliable international mamager. Scolari would have been a decent choice but, it being the FA, most likely would not have considered that he might turn down the job...they will plump for McLaren I have no doubt.

O'Neill is waiting for the Man Utd job and I can't see Wenger being interested.

I would rather have Big Sam than Steve McLaren to be honest.

fathead and mclaren are practically the same, if I had to choose It'd be mclaren because he doesnt moan as much and has been assistant, but they both play too defensively and have little or no experience of managing big ego's on a day to day basis (once great players looking to be out to pasture doesnt really count,) I wouldnt trust either of them to make the tough choices that need to be made, though they have a knack for claiming 'big' scalps now and then, that might pacify the tabloids, three losses on the bounce to slovenia, poland and syria, followed by a 3-0 twatting of brazil, can see it now.

Graham taylor was appointed england manager on the basis of 'working wonders at a small club,' be surprised if the same mistake was made again.

Oh, and with consumate timing tomorrow's Sun will feature allegations about McClaren's personal life (he's shagging around - allegedly). All England candidates now trading between 4.5 (Big Mac) and 9.2 (Little Alan).
The Sun and NOTW obviously won't be happy until a) we're out of the world cup and b) every member of the England management team have been exposed and shamed. I trust Murdoch's happy crew all have squeaky-clean business records and private lives? Oh, hang on...

We're going to end up with a "dream team" of Howard Wilkinson and David Platt at this rate.

Oh for FUCK's sake. Might as well bring back Graham Taylor and be done with it.

"Carlton!!!!"

England, you mean. I think you'll find that Scotland's football management is perfectly capable when it comes to hiring ineffective foreign coaches. ;)

In the case of England's new coach, I'm not sure if it's the FA or the media who are causing the biggest problems.

Now rumours about death threats to Scolari and/or son, plus alleged indiscretions that might be dredged up by the tabloids should he accept the job...
Even given the millions concerned, why would anyone want the sodding job?

There is one genuinely English manager who has considerable experience of managing international teams which everyone, including the FA, seems to have so far overlooked for some reason - step forward, Roy Hodgson!

Oh, and that Sun story - apparently they were "on a break".
Anyway, sounds like someone at News International had money on Scolari and needed to lay it off fast

tabloid and threats

And i was always told how britain played fair and was sporting and didn't cheat and all that.

Scolari had a gentleman's agreement, yet that didn't stop us from publicly approaching him.

Just like over germany getting the world cup. Like fuck are we sporting fair people.

As for our media, good on the man for stating that to be his reason. Proper bloke. Nobody in their right mind would want this job. There are a lot of stuffed up pricks salivating over this appointment. What a mess.

The british media have no competition. They are the worst of the worst and a considerable reason why england never win anything. Basically we get what we deserve. Our media are more disgraceful than a disgrace.

And the FA are now rightfully looking the ego-driven fuckwits that they are. Can anyone remind me why they sacked sven in the first place?

well I know that he was regularly slaughtered in the Portuguese press by Mourinho during Euro 2004, the two absolutely detest each other - partly because Scolari was reluctant to play some of the Porto european champions side.

He's never been to see Porto at home and has based himself very much in Lisbon and with the Lisbon clubs. This wins him very few friends in the north of the country

I think its a record that i s never going to be beaten, the new England manager just resigned before he was hired,

But the BBC suggested it was death threats that broke the camels back...
would I be wrong to think he didn't have experience of physical threats in Brazil more then he ever would here, or was the trend for kidnapping footballers relatives etc not high while he was coaching there...?

the press are already muck raking over mcclaren , i heard about a relationship he had when he was separated from his wife of something, and he hasn't been offered the job ffs

i think he was considered in 2000 when shagger sven got the nod, I think he's the finland team manager at the mo, but let's not stop a little thing like that stop the fa :D

Just ask Arsene

He can do it on weekends, or send Pat Rice if he can't be bothered

Don't give the job to McClaren...things won't change, he's already too much a part of the current setup, would no doubt keep the same coaches and the same squad. Plus...ffs....its only the UEFA Cup!

I don't think it matters who we get if he's english. Firstly he won't be up to the job and we'll never win the world cup.

Secondly by the time he takes the job we'll be world cup champions because we have a sacked manager in charge of our team who the media can't damage any more than they have already. And we'll all be so happy at finally winning the thing (all under 50s that is), we'll be satiated for many a year.

By which time stuart pearce will be ready for the job.
